Should Newt Gingrich’s Ex-wife’s Interview Derail His Campaign?

Marianne Gingrich tells ABC News Newt Gingrich wanted an "open marriage"

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich asked Marianne Gingrich to have an "open marriage" after admitting an affair with the congressional aid to whom he is is now married, Marianne told ABC News. "I said to him, 'Newt, we've been married a long time,' and he said, ‘Yes, but you want me all to yourself. Callista doesn't care what I do,'" she said in a clip promoting on the interview on the ABC website. "He was asking to have an open marriage and I refused." Wednesday evening, Drudge Report broke the story that ABC News had filmed the interview, but was debating whether to air it before Saturday's South Carolina primary. Soon after, an ABC source confirmed that they indeed filmed such an interview and that it would "likely" air on ABC's Nightline Thursday.

Gingrich campaign spokesman RC Hammond released a letter addressed to ABC News by Gingrich's daughters Kathy Lubbers and Jackie Cushman defending the Republican candidate:

The failure of a marriage is a terrible and emotional experience for everyone involved. Anyone who has had that experience understands it is a personal tragedy filled with regrets, and sometimes differing memories of events… ABC News or other campaigns may want to talk about the past, just days before an important primary election. But Newt is going to talk to the people of South Carolina about the future...We are confident this is the conversation the people of South Carolina are interested in having.

Obama may have something like this in his background. The problem is we don't know anything about Obama's background.

Did you have a good Martin Luther Day. Cheater. Kennedy brothers cheated with M. Monroe. Teddy cheated and did not report killing a woman until later. How about Ike and FDR ? Sure not all these folks are proven. Neither was Cain and latest charges against Newt of wanting open marriage.

You say Newt is a “low down scum ”. No reason given. Must speculate right ? Ah, ethic committee and $$$ 300,000 fine. 70 + charges DROPPED. Two charges concerning IRS went to court. Newt WON. 2 minor point Newt said guilty. That’s $$$ 300,000 fine ? Heaven’s NO not RIGHT. Newt admitted affair. Admitted. “Low down scum ” right ? Most men admit RIGHT ? NO not publicly.

How many budgets was BALANCED did Bill C. have before Newt ? NONE. With Newt, ah, 4. That’s part of the CONTRACT WITH AMERICA Newt fought for !!! Closing down government twice got things done. He accomplished working with Republicans & Democrats (do we NEED that now in Congress ?).

Yes Newt made enemies. His years had surplus. Not before under Bill C. and not after. You want this “low down scum ” as your President ???

I DO !!! Newt will have to compromise with both parties just like Reagan. Reagan increased some taxes & reduced MORE. For every $$$ 1.00 increased, he reduced $$$ 2.00. Newt worked out the Gridlock:

ABOUT THOSE TAX CUTS

Bill C. increased taxes. Newt got them lowered. You think increase gave government MORE revenue and Newt’s cuts cost revenue RIGHT ??? WRONG:

“MYTH: Raising taxes in the 1990s caused the boom years of that decade. This proves that raising taxes leads to economic growth."

“FACT: Tax cuts, not tax hikes, caused the boom years of the 1990s. The economy grew modestly after Clinton raised taxes in 1993, but the economy grew even more after Clinton signed the tax cuts that were passed by the Republican-controlled Congress under Newt Gingrich’s leadership in 1997.”

“In 1997, the Republican-led Congress passed a tax-relief and deficit-reduction bill that was resisted but ultimately signed by President Clinton”

“In 1995, the first year for which these data are available, just over $8 billion in venture capital was invested. Venture capital is especially critical to a vibrant economy because high-risk/high-return investment permits promising new businesses to blossom, rapidly spreading new technologies and new ideas into the marketplace and across the economy. Such investments, when successful, generate returns to investors that are subject primarily to the tax on capital gains. By 1998, the first full year in which the lower capital gains rates were in effect, venture capital activity reached almost $28 billion, more than a three-fold increase over 1995 levels, and by 1999, it had doubled yet again. Everything about him should have stopped his circus campaign in the first place!

Either everyone has forgotten what a low down scum he is,

or good morals have gone to hell in this country,

or people have lost far too many brain cells

and animal instinct is taking over.

I mean what else would see him as a good President?
