Over-Saving Caused the Economic Crisis

This article and the book to which it speaks of are written by people who clearly have no business 'educating' influence as to 'why things are the way they are'. Evidently, re-writing history serves as better excuse than that of citing actual points of reason. The perspective as indicated is jetted by selective awareness and explication worthy of being titled as, wishful gossip. The sad truth: the glazed over populous will buy in to this nonsense.

Ann Keenan, you're annoying. We get it, you don't like *any* news [source] that *doesn't* cater to your politics, nor any politico who might suggest anything to be the slightest right of your extreme leftist psycho-babble. Quite simply, you will argue half hazardly and without merit *against* anything and everything that doesn't suit your ideology. That is fine... But your opinion in comment is nothing short of grandiloquent and of the sheep mentality. And well, sheep are cheap.

As I said in an earlier comment at a different blog: Information taken from Newsmax is no information at all.

How can we have production without consumption?

Richard Coleman of PA 1:48PM January 19, 2012

Well, while I am here, i might as well ask this: Why would a person cite Newsmax as if it was a credible site? It is tiresome to read references to statements found on the Newsmax site--and read quotes from Newsmax as if Newmax was always telling the truth. Then we discover that Newsmax is NOT a credible source of information. What a waste of precious time!

Newt Gingrich makes it official: The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is "a reactionary socialist institution." I guess those us news and world report commenters who cite the CBO in their comments and cite the CBO as the ultimate authority on budget and the economy, will need to come up with a very different agency to "prove their talking points."

This guy's off his rocker. The problem was that there was (and still is, thanks to the continued expansion of the money supply) too much consumption and borrowing, and not enough production and saving. That's called malinvestment.

A. “Independent CBO Says Health Care Law Will Destroy 800,000 Jobs ”

http://www.speaker.gov/Blog/?postid=224598

B. “Obama Is the Job Wrecker in Chief”

“Those who've examined Congressional Budget Office (CBO) data have calculated that each job allegedly created by Obama's stimulus — and this is if you accept the fantastically generous guesstimates — cost between $225,000 and $600,000”

“Obama dismissed out of hand a farmer at a town hall meeting who said he was worried about "noise pollution, dust pollution, and water runoff."

“But the Environmental Protection Agency is actually considering more stringent requirements on controlling dust, which has prompted 21 senators to sign a letter of objection to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson.”

“The senators say the proposed standard would be "the most stringent and unparalleled regulation of dust in our nation's history" and "extremely burdensome for farmers and livestock producers to attain." Obama's callousness notwithstanding, the farmer's concerns about water runoff are also well grounded, as the EPA is working on new rules to tighten requirements for farms.”

“To get an accurate feel for Obama's attitude toward regulation, we should understand that in stark contrast to the private sector under Obama's watch, federal regulatory agency employment, as noted by columnist Ramesh Ponnuru, "has surged 13 percent." These agencies' "budgets are up 16 percent."

“Consider also the EPA's new "Transport Rule," which could destroy thousands of jobs, and its ozone regulation, which Cantor suggests could cost "upward of $1 trillion and millions of jobs in the construction industry over the next decade."

“Other administration gems include its "new maximum achievable control technology standards for cement," which may send thousands of jobs offshore, and the National Labor Relations Board's unconscionable action in preventing Boeing from opening a plant in South Carolina.”

“Big Brother is also working its paternalistic magic through the Interagency Working Group on Food Marketed to Children, whose food guidelines are billed as a voluntary program to combat childhood obesity.”

“By cloaking the regulations in the voluntary costume, government officials will be able to bypass the standard regulatory process. The government doubtlessly won't tell us about a study showing that these new "voluntary," innocuous regulations could destroy 74,000 jobs and cost $28.3 billion in the first year alone.”

“When evaluating the administration's record on jobs, we mustn't overlook the inevitably devastating impact Obamacare will have on jobs and businesses, as Andy Puzder, CEO of CKE Restaurants, testified to Congress last month. Puzder said his company is a "job creation machine" but fears Obamacare will be the wrench that grinds it to a halt”

"Over-Saving Caused the Economic Crisis"

Dude - you need to stop sniffin' glue.

Our economy collapsed because we were living off "never ending" increases in home equity, and not a fundamentally strong economic foundation.

Now, add to the mix corporate and union greed, outsourcing jobs, untaxed offshore investments, loss of an industrial base, crazy enviro regulations, and the Green War against carbon and nuclear resulting in fewer jobs and more expensive, "green" energy.

Further, there is no way to compete with China where the daily wage is fifty cents and their energy costs are half what ours are.

All ships of nations rise and fall on the tide of a world economy - islands don't. America was once an island, but no longer... We're just floundering along with everyone else and they're not as weighted down as we are.

We are toast, and we lack the national will and common sense to change it - or even recognize the real issues.

Say... maybe I should start sniffin' glue - then maybe I could believe in green dreams, pork-pie stimulus, glib, patter from our president and tales of El Dorado.

R.L. Schaefer of CA 9:19PM January 11, 2012

Necessity is the mother of invention. Demand is the mother of production.

The Great Depression taught us that no matter how much productive capacity we have, if the folks producing the goods and services couldn't afford to purchase them, the economy could not grow.

Currently we have plenty of capacity and plenty of capital. There are no "regulations" and there is no "uncertainty" inhibiting growth. Lack of demand is virtually the only factor in the decision making of "job creators" that prevents business expansion.
