You are right Thanksgiving should NOT be for the elite. And that why people are becoming outrage and sick about this.
Those evil CEO's are the like the ones you see in movies but GOOD hopefully will prevail here. Lets' all stand so that just not our families but poor families can be with their families.
These CEO's say they are doing this for the customers, WELL The customers are saying DONT DO IT but they act stupid. They know what customers really want and that is for them to promote FAMILY VALUES..
SHAME ON THE CEOS of kmart toys r US kohls, best buy target walmart and MACYs and for the media who is not calling out these evil ceo's and for all the cutomers that walk in that door tonight and early morning. YOU ARE to blame too. You be booed as you walk at the door because you are able to spend a nice thanksigving but these employees cant. Shame on you..
And for the GOOD CEO's like Jc penny and Nordstroms who have come out publicly to say they ARE NOT opening on thanksgving so that their employyees can enjoy thanksgiving. god bless them and lets cheer them on and spend our money with them and smaller stores..
I have faith that people will come together and stand up against these CEOS and these customers who are selfless.

Yes, the stores can be blamed or should I say the "brilliant" marketing teams. That by the way, get to stay home on Thanksgiving and enjoy their families! These stores can run the same ads, the same sales and the same Door Busters at 5 or 6AM. There is no excuse to open at Midnight. The consumer will come, with their money, no matter what time the stores deem "Early Bird" will be. I truly fear that this Holiday will soon disappear to the retailers.

Thanksgiving is anticipation...
the excitement of wonderful aromas,
golden, harvest-themed décor,
the best linens, china and silver.
Thanksgiving is...
platters of of special Thanksgiving foods
prepared only once a year,
mmn...mmn... mouths watering,
ecstatic taste buds quivering with joy.
Thanksgiving is...
the family all around the table,
clean, dressed, smiles all around,
recitation of what we are thankful for,
the saying of grace,
our special Thanksgiving prayer.
And now, finally, dig in!
We are thinking of you
at Thanksgiving, and hoping
your Thanksgiving experience
will be surrounded
by a special glow in your memory.

Sadly, soon it will no longer be about giving thanks and being with the ones we love! It will be about what time does the store open on Thanksgiving, how much can I save, pushing, shoving and turning into "The Hulk"!

Maybe this will make more people appreciate the others that have to work on all holidays. i.e. police, fire, ems. The families of these workers deal with awful schedules on holidays. Opening presents at 4 or 5 a.m. before they go to work and not being able to enjoy playing with the new presents with their parents. Eating the big meal at noon before they go to work. And don't get me started on natural disasters where these workers can pull over 60 hours shifts. That's shifts, not hours in a week. They have to camp out where they work.
