Who is to Blame for the FAA Shutdown?

This was most likely never about funding small airports in Democratic districts. It's part of the Koch Bros/Grover Norquist/Billionaires larger strategy of taking away workers' rights and turning labor into a low-cost workforce to support their corporate robbery of American middle class citizens. When will enough be enough? When the middle class joins the ranks of the working poor? What then? Do you think the CEO's (the ones running our country) would authorize the military to use tanks, etc... against the protestors? Pay attention America. Educate. Organize. Stand. Speak.

Here's an idea, do it like we do on the state level: continue funding operations at the current year levels until you pass a new budget to either add or subtract or otherwise change the funding. None of this intermittent, stop-and-go stuff. This works for almost anything except emergencies (real emergencies like Katrina or invasions from outer space, lol, not "emergencies" as defined by any member of Congress.)

At least the republicans are not afraid to show what they are all about . I think they are following the examples set by the Taliban and other Muslim extremist groups.

Its funny how Republicans get blame for Democrats refusing to pass a bill.

The TIERNEY SNEED point out that we lost more money than what we would have saved, but this knife cuts bought ways. If The Democrats had past the bill, then we would not have saved money instead of losing money.

Like Steve of Texas, I am concerned about the irresponsible use of violent speech. Hostage taking? Pointing Guns to the heads? Kill? The House provided their version of what it would take to continue the FFA but the Democrats are more beholden to the Unions than to the Airways. If it is anybody's fault that those in the FAA aren't working, it is the Democrats, and the failure of the ObamaNation Administration.

They got back in by screaming about jobs. I don't think we thought they meant Kill jobs, jobs, jobs! but that certainly looks like their plan. The unaduterated thuggery and strong arm tactics they are employing to destroy union jobs and saddle th emiddle class with the burdens they inflicted on us during the Bush's years of spend spend spend is criminal. they transferred 40% of the countries wealth to the rich and now are sticking us with the bill, while killing every job they can. What is their end solution...total melt down?

Marcuscassius of AR 5:01PM August 03, 2011

John, I'm tired of you liberals using violent metaphors in describing the debate between Republicans and Democrats. "gun to the heads"? And are you actually threatening violence in the halls of Congress? Boy, I'll bet the secret service and capitol police would be interested in you. Well, maybe it's just a prediction. But the time for bloated government which wants complete control over our lives has come to an end.

And Lee, bravo. Sometimes actually reading these bills can dispell the lies our politicians say just about every time they open their mouths.

Steve of TX 4:39PM August 03, 2011

It is too bad that the Republican Congress is showing their true color of hostage taking and demanding their wishes by pointing guns to the heads. If Republican voters and tea-party members are still not fed-up with the childish conduct of their elected representatives, they will see more loaded guns and fireworks in coming months that too in our Congress and Senate halls similar to we are watching on T.V. in many third world nations parliament. Also, if this madness continue further and gaps between rich and poor go on increasing we will have to cage few trouble makers like Egyptians have caged Mubarak and his sons. The increase in racial and cultural fights will convert our democracy to a phony millionaires controlled democracy.

"Republicans share the blame in their refusal to budge on union rights"

How can that be? If you read the bill H.R.2553 there is nothing in it about unions or labor rights.
