If you take a string and put it on a globe from London, Paris, or even Rome to Dulles, it goes over NOVA SCOTIA. It is called a Great Circle. If you were to follow this you would go right over the most crowded airspace in the world, New York City. Perhaps we should have conservative hacks route our planes! We'll have collisions in the sky but at least we'll honor the the free market!

Don't believe me, check out http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=LHR-IAD or http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=FCO-IAD

Plus a 360° camera on every airplane, allowing the pilot to see on screen everything around his plane, is it forbidden?

If both are forbidden, then the forbidder should be killed!

If not forbidden: why have private airplanes not these 2 common sense features? Miserliness?

Remember: private companies must maximize profit, so they always minimize safety controls: until private nuclear reactor Fukushima explode, of until private owned airplanes crashes... So FAA is good, maximizing safety, and not maximizing profits!

In Switzerland, private trains compagnies provoked so much accidents and death that they had to be nationalized (Chemin de Fer Fédéraux), in order to maximize safety, and not maximize profitability! (You cant never maximize 2 things together)

That would be a pretty good trick. You do understand that the federal government subsidizes airlines through the Civil Reserve Air Fleet legislation, don't you? You do realize that the reason commercial airliner manufacturers can stay in business is that they have a guaranteed buyer in the federal government, don't you? Your latent teabaggery is predicated on the utterly misbegotten fantasy that "The Market" would take care of airliner innovation. In fact, the market would wipe out the airliner industry in this country -- why else do you think the U.S. Air Force was coerced into buying its next generation tanker aircraft from an American company when, in a free competition, the American aircraft didn't win?

Air traffic Controllers and essential personnel stay on the job.

Terrorists shutdown air traffic entirely in 2001. Again in 2006 terrorists were able to grind air traffic to a crawl and impose the stringent invasive personal searches for all air travelers. Now the GOP wants to bring air traffic to a complete shutdown by withholding funding.

Why you might ask, so the GOP can try to rid unions from the FAA altogether and so oligarchs can steal the system of traffic cops of our skies, a system that is essentially part of public defense and that needs to been run in the public interest. This is part of the GOP war against public police departments and public police departments. If we can't govern ourselves for basic protections like police, firemen, and air traffic control, then we would be forced by the GOP to have transfer these public functions to mercenaries whose only interests are dollar signs. TSA employees voted to unionize themselves recently so we can expect Republicans to undermine any security efforts at air ports, however feeble they are.

While the FAA is not perfect, completely shutting down FAA operations is not even reasonable but that is exactly what Republicans are trying to do. When you want to fly on vacation later this summer but your life is endangered thanks to Republicans fanatics who are holding our country hostage. The terrorists are Republicans in DC affecting air traffic we have to worry about this summer. And who knows what else could happen if militant extremists figure out vulnerabilities with our guard down by the lack of funding.

Since Republicans haven't passed a budget for the FAA, the FAA will start shutting down operations already. It should surprise no the Dept of Transportation will have to close all US air traffic for the lack of funding which is apparently exactly what Republicans want. And yet we get henpecked by same sleazy GOP advocates who think there is no limit to the treason they can push.
