We should be able to stand in front of family and friends and celebrate our love and commitment to one another as all heterosexual are allowed to do.

God also says its wrong to kill people and we still do that. Now the question is why dont we follow all his laws not just this one

The real question is what does God say about this subject? He is the Creator of all life and He is the one who determines what is right or wrong. We each were given a freewill, so we can decide whether to believe Him or not. The fact still remains that God says it is wrong for anyone other than one man and one woman to be married. No majority will change this absolute truth.

gay rights should be legalized.. in ALL fifty states. people should be able to love who they want without discrimination(:

What have we come to? I think the whole topic is disgusting.

If your church would like to believe that gay people are living in sin, or that no one except who they approve of can get married and be recognized by their congregation, or that anyone who wears the color red is possessed by the devil… by all means, suit yourself. The USA grants freedom of religion to each and every person.

Just remember that your rights end where the next person's nose begins.

And also that enshrining one religion's beliefs in law necessarily invailidates all others in the eyes of that same law. That is why government must be secular: to protect ALL people.

Actually, James of TX, gay marriage does affect my marriage. But we are on the same page here.

It is a reminder that many people had to fight for the right to get married. And that we str8s should value marriage more and end the terrible divorce rate we have.

BTW one of my jobs is to track gay divorces. Now running at about 5-7% where legal. While the str8 marriages divorce at 50%

BTw we got married in 1967. It was the year our daughter to be's marriage to an asian 30 years later was legallized

All the churches etc opposed to gay marriage - they arent churches at all.

Of course it should be legalized. this is the same type of battle we fought for black people, who could legally get married after 1867. then the bigots put in the marriage license rule. to keep Blacks, mostly destitute from marrying - they couldnt pay the fee

And I'm reminded of the year I got married - when laws against inter-racial marriage were finally overturned in many states

If you've heard of the meaningless "protect the sanctity of marriage " story

Well, back then it was "protect the sanctity of the white race"
