Obama's Bad Policy, Harmful Regulations Add to Gas Prices

Germany and Sweden have announced they will dismantle ALL their nuclear power plants. The rest of Western Europe won't be far behind, and there is no doubt that Obama will use their cover to close our nuclear power plants as well.

When this happens Russia and China will be rubbing their grubby little hands together in glee for we have placed ourselves at their mercy - and they have none.

China has already hacked its way into most of the West's civilian and military computer systems and, together with Russia, will have all the power they need from coal, hydro and nuclear. Add to that unhappy scenario a soon to be united fanatical Islam having all the oil they require for their Holy War.

America and Europe will have windmills and solar panels and 5 watt light bulbs. We'll be green and they will be running the means of production for the world.

All the West can do is pull the sheet up over our heads as they fight it out to see which will become our master.

We Need to Regulate Oil Speculators Driving up Gas Prices

Increasing Gas Prices are the best proof we need financial regulation of the commodities speculators that are driving the profiteering going on at the gas pumps. Regulations might harm the speculators Issa is trying to protect but regulation on oil speculators will protect average Americans at the gas pump.

High oil prices are not based on supply and demand, only the demand for profits off the unregulated commodities markets is driving the price of oil. There is plenty of supply, more supply than ever, yet snakes like Issa will use speculative commodities rip-offs to try to make oil speculation a permanent tax on American consumers.

Issa needs to disclose how much money he is receiving from oil companies and speculators to push their agenda.

We also need to regulate campaign contributions and all the graft going around in Washington DC.

Your post has all the hallmarks of a religious fanatic. You become enraged when someone attacks your belief system. You see you WANT to believe in something - which is sooo typical of people who say, "Well, I'm not religious, I'm spiritual."

Oh, isn't that special...

For you God is totally personal and subjective. God is whatever you perceive Him (Her?) to be and therefore objectively meaningless.

You know Jo, at one time, I considered myself an environmentalist. But, I didn’t agree with the hunting down and destruction of the “Dreaded non-native species”. I didn’t want to preserve our open spaces by putting up fences and closing campgrounds and roads. I believed in managing our resources not worshiping them. I knew that if I wanted housing and "stuff" it meant developers and industry. It was obvious to me that if the world stopped using effective pesticides millions would die of starvation and insect vectored disease. I realized that if I wanted light and heat it meant power plants, because solar and windmills have very little "net energy" after you factor all the energy to produce, transport, install, maintain and transmit, and the amount of land destroyed is staggering.

I was for preserving wildlife but not the draconian measures of the “Endangered Species Act”. I understood that good forest management might mean thinning trees and avoiding the wildfires that now devastate hundreds of thousands of acres every year. I wanted my children to grow up camping, hunting, fishing, yet respecting and working to preserve nature, but not to consider all things “natural” sacred. I didn’t see anything evil in a campfire. I wanted roads left open so the handicapped, the aged, the infirm and the very young and others who aren’t able to carry a backpack for miles could enjoy nature and access its beauty. I wanted our farmers to be able to feed the world through the use of chemicals, machines and technology. I understood that many animals co-exist on a cattle ranch, but that none survive on an organic farm. I taught my children to pick up all the trash they found when they went fishing and camping, but not to litigate to have areas closed down to the public. I understood that people “recreate” in the outdoors in different ways and that mine wasn’t the only “right” way. I wanted to educate and expose people to our National Forests not charge a high fees while closing vast areas down to public access. In the end, I simply wanted to use the environment with practicality, common sense and respect. I found these goals not to be compatible with the new Church of Universal Environmental Purity.

If we, as a nation, don’t wake up soon we may find ourselves being led backward, green banners flying. Marching backward to a world of starvation, blackouts, rationing and shortages. Backward to a world where we sit under a darkened sky, chanting to the oak trees, our only warmth and light coming from the fires of the burning books.

Really? The way I read it, it simply points out that "green" technology can not yet compete economically with existing technologies.

For anybody capable of actual thought, this is a dog bites man story.

Well it was warmer in Medieval times, Artic ice is not getting thinner, and ozone is not diminishing. People have been dying from dirty water a long, long time.

Practicality of GREEN is a long ways off:

"that the religion of Environmentalism is using to advance their theology and progressive agenda."

So you'd rather continue to walk backwards?

How is Environmentalism a religion? It's not, this is reality instead of mythology. No one can deny our Earth is in peril, no one can deny it's partly our fault. All our fault? No, but we're not innocent. We're destroying the Earth, we've done wrong, and we shouldn't fix it as best as we can?

"As people turn away from God it is only natural they adopt a belief system to replace it. A retread of pantheism is ideal. "Going green" makes folks feel good and want to belong to a group trying to save the planet - instead of souls. I mean, hey, you can at least see "lifeboat earth"."

Who's God, yours? Again, mythology! Now, I'm a spiritual person and I do believe there is a higher power... but you just make me want to slam my head against a wall. Going green just doesn't make people feel good, going green is for the benefit of the planet. Do you know what'll happen if we continue on this path? Lets put global warming aside, we're poisoning our water, our land, and our air. What happens when all the trees are gone? When all the water is brown? When the air is so full of carcinogens that asthma becomes even more common that it is now.

Does anyone even see the effects the pollution is going to have on future generations?

Stop thinking short term. Who knows about global warming or if it is even our fault, pollution is real and it is our fault, and if we do nothing about that we're all going to pay the price.

Stop drilling, look for greener alternatives. Stop thinking short term, start thinking long-term. I support progress and I support change.
