Are You Sick of Hearing About the Royal Wedding?

Here in the UK, I can't find a single person who gives a crap about the royal wedding. We're up to our ears in debt, and now our taxpayer money has to pay for scores of police, security, and sanitation crews to deal with all the well-wishers.

Additionally, why don't any journalists look for human interest stories, like people who can't afford weddings, people who can't have proper weddings (such as survivors of childhood sexual abuse perpetrated by relatives, people with infertility problems who've spend all their money and time on trying, or people with other personal tragedies)? For many, being reminded every day by the media that they couldn't have a wedding, is searingly painful. What about those people?

I'm sick of all this as well. It's like come on already who really gives a s**t!! When grocery and fuel prices are rising here in the U.S. The last thing I want to see is a couple of royals getting married.

i can not wait for this wedding to be done with, i live in the suffolk,uk and i am sick to death, how can someone justify spending £10 million pounds on a wedding, let alone tax payers footing the bill at an astounding price of £20 million pounds for police protection. i am no anti roylist, they do alot for charity but apart from that, they dont do alot and they are at the end of the day a tourist attraction. also kate middleton is not a commoner, i am more common than she is,

Yes, I am sick to death of hearing about it! It's a royal wedding...in England. It's getting at least TRIPLE the coverage, IN AMERICA, of a typical American presidential election. I have 8 news feeds on my Google sidebar, and at any given time, 3 of them are about the royal wedding halfway across the world. 2012 primaries? Maybe one link, sometimes none.

On a side note, this is about the most skewed poll I think I've ever seen. You know that most of the people who would vote "no" inherently wouldn't even click on the story to begin with because of the wording of the title. I wouldn't trust the results as far as I could throw them (to the nearest trash can), except as a gauge of how many royal-wedding-haters like myself are fed up enough to click this link and add their gripe to the mix. Come to think of it, though, you don't even have a control group. You want to talk about a ludicrous waste of time and money? What was your goal in posting this?

Ms. Kim, maybe you should be the one to do the poll you mentioned on how many British men envy Prince William. You complained about it, but I don't see it being any less relevant or conclusive than the topic you DID post.

Didn't America fight a war to be free of the monarchy? So why are all the networks over in Britain covering this wedding on nausea! It is impossible to watch any news program without being reminded of this up coming event. I can't wait for this week to end.

We have our Movie Stars, sport heros, etc., England has their Royal family.

Relax. Be happy...

Karen of CA, I love how you think quality and class in America is in demise, yet England is so classy and its people well mannered. Have you ever seen the common classes of England and the the quality of the majority classes? England is not an extremely polite, absolutely darling and classy country that stereotypes would portray. The two countries are far from different in both attitudes and behaviors. Some of the rudest people I have ever met have been English, that doesn't mean the entire country is rude though. Ironically some of the nicest people I've ever known have been American, again, that doesn't mean the entire country is polite.

These people are "Royal"? Wow.... if only my ancestors had murdered their way to the top of the "bloodlines" of England. That has got to command a lot of respect. Who knew there was a yearning for the image of a Feudal Lordship.

Oh..... I forgot. America elected a man who stood between the Greek columns in Denver and made him president.... and he even tries to act like he is some kind of lord.

I am not tired of hearing about the Royal Wedding, and England is fortunate to have William and Kate representing them on the world stage. America has not been represented well since JFK and Jackie, and later JFK, Jr. And don't forget, America also produced the beautiful and elegant Grace Kelly.

So yes, I will watch the Royal Wedding and try to forget about the demise of quality and class in our own country.
