The Defense of Marriage Act Is Constitutional

This is about why you think same-sex marriage shouldn't be legal. This is not about how it is unconstitutional...

Also, studies show that children of same-sex couples are more open to the diversities of the world, don't discriminate largely in society, and are equal to heterosexual couples' children in grades and education.

People used to strongly oppose interracial marriage, as well. They said it was against the word of God. Now they realize that it is okay and is NATURAL, just like same-sex marriage. Marriage is not simply a family structure, it is a federal bonding of two people. Not all married couples seek to have children.

This argument was supposed to be about whether DOMA is Constitutional or not. It wasn't supposed to be about the "family structure." Your appeals to pathos are misplaced. How about an argument that uses the actual Constitution for support.

What happened to the separation of church and state. Also, the claim that it should be banned based on the scientific evidence that children need both a father and a mother is also irrelevant. Since children come from both a man and a woman they could not be produced from a homosexual couple. The only way that a gay couple could have a child is through adoption, foster care, etc. Those bring up a whole new subject: can gay couples adopt? The author of this article seems to have the narrow minded view that marriage is all about offspring. It is not. Rather, it is about the union of two individuals.

Religion has no place governing the affairs of those people that are not believers in Christ.

Based on the arguments this writer sets forth, it seems that using his own logic, he would support revoking marriage licenses for married couples who have not procreated. He seems to believe that marriage is a structure defined to support "families" — mother, father, and children. Surely he wouldn't stand behind revoking social security benefits to a widow, paid into by a widow's deceased husband, just because the two of them didn't (or couldn't) procreate.

its not legal this isnt a christian nation nor is found on christian. and if it was i hate to break it to you rewritting bible and talking for god and lying for him is a mortal sin. only english bible denounce gays. but heres the idea gay or homosexual is modern term the ancient term has no connattotion with married couples who are maried, just rape and unwed. catholic church married gays up to 12 century. king david had a gay marriage. 2 russian saints are gay. a group of gay orthodxy catholics in greece are gay. and not all christians believe what you believe which means you violated pagan rights, glbt rights, atheists rights committed terrorist actions i could go on. how about a form of geneocide. its not discrimination if its true. not only that transsexuals are normal to which means ppay for their hormones and surggery god commands. if your about morals why are you people so immoral. not electing a pagan or atheist in which that person could benefit your cause, slandering mude racking political candiates goes agaisnt bible, unwed sex,gay sex, having bastard children and leave them on welfare and not paying for the fare. i mean i could go on its not about morals is its hate, igorance. i dont hate christians to me your beleifs hold true gems for buddhists, pagans and atheists but what i wont put up is having to follow christian law based on lies well and christian law. i gurantee this gets censored to. oh by way god delights in bashing babies heads in which means he for aboration.

Tony Perkins is a member of the Family Research Council. Of COURSE he's going to say it's constitutional. The Family Research Council is one of the most anti-gay groups out there. And their name is an oxymoron. I've not seen them raise much of a stink about divorce.

And apparently, Mr. Perkins has never heard of the Full Faith and Credit Clause of the Constitution. You know, the one that states:

"Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof."

Guess where marriage falls under the government? Yep... right in that group.

It may be constitutional for a state to refuse to perform same-sex marriages. It is NOT constitutional for them to fail to recognize a same-sex marriage from another state that does perform them.

I was born in one of the most socially conservative countries in the world. I have come to a conclusion that state should not define institutions that govern the life of its citizens influenced by any religion.

I knw secularism is frowned upon by some right wingers but i believe that separation of church and state is the founding principle of any civilized state that aims to protect all its citizens from discrimination.

Same sex couples have children, sometimes adopted, sometimes biological. Don't these children deserve the same rights and benefits from government that the children of married parents have?

Discrimination against gay parents is discrimination against their children as well. What's the purpose? Are you trying to deter them from having gay parents?
