It must be understood, Mr. Cox, that the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution is not necessarily absolute. Moreover, your organization is making wild claims about a proposed treaty to regulate the international arms trade, claiming that this pact is about a global ban on private gun ownership (which it is not).

Really? Are you kidding me? Half the pro-gun articles will praise the fact that the vast majority of all defensive situations involving guns and potential attackers never results in the firing of the gun, or if it is, the gun is fired in the air. Name me one defensive situation, other than a gunfight in the ghetto or in the streets of the middle east, where you need a 21 round clip. 1. If you need more than six rounds to fend off your attacker you are either a very bad shot or shooting at that person with a bb gun. 2. Ever hear of reloading a clip? People do it every day. This is a nonsense argument that only benefits whomever is selling this stuff. I'm all for gun ownership, but the logic here is nonsense.

You watch too many movies. Its called a "Magazine" unless your firing an M1 Garand which acctually uses a Clip. Todays guns do not.

. . .fear something already prohibited by the U.S. Supreme Court. If the Supreme Court has already imposed a ban on a total gun ban, is it not logical to assume that even the most hard-line gun-control advocates no longer support a total ban?

JVJ of MD 7:41PM March 08, 2011

There is no reason to fear a total ban on private firearms in the present-day United States. The Supreme Court in 2008 (Heller decision) has already prohibited it. There are really no longer any real supporters of a total gun ban in the United States, for obvious reasons (see above).

Perhaps American gun owners should no longer fear anything already prohibited by the nation's highest court. Fear of a total gun ban is NOT a rational fear. It's REALLY just pure paranoia.

Fear of a total gun ban in the post-2008, post-Heller era is obsolete and outdated.

Moreover, almost the only time a member of the U.S. Congress called for a total gun ban was in 1995 with a comment on "60 Minutes" by California senator Diane Feinstein, and that was in reaction to the terrorist bombing in Oklahoma City.

Please be rational when you consider gun control laws. I believe very resolutely that to create a safer society in regards to gun there are really only two aspects of gun control that will work . First, we must prevent persons with dangerous psychiatric problems from ever owning a gun. This is not hard to do if

it is required by society. Our President's Fair Health Care Act of 2010 puts parity

psychiatric medicine n our country for the first time in history. This will help us the most.

Secondly, we need to educate our public ,including school children, in gun safety and encourage competition.

Politicians are ignorant when it comes to weapons, bad guys and tactics. Some of them have served in the military, but most have never sacrificed their time to serve, being too busy with their self serving life-style. One thing is for sure, the enemy, or bad guys, have never cared about laws or the Geneva Convention. The bad guys, who are violent outlaws, will always posses what they feel will give them the advantage. The private citizen, who cares about protecting himself and his family, must be able to have the proper equipment for evening the odds. Those who say we will leave it up to law enforcement to protect us do not understand law enforcement. The police have said many times that they protect society, not the individual. Police usually react to a crime, not being able to protect everyone all the time. It doesn't make any sense to punish the majority by the actions of a few nut cases.

I am a registered permit holder. having my gun on me keeps me straight as an arrow. never a single violent criminal thought has crossed my mind since having a permit.... so with this evidence I am not scared by permit holders. most of my friends also carry. and I am no more or less scared by how many bullets they have... it doesnt bother me in the least. im sure they arent going to shoot me...

its the criminals i worry about. they dont want or need to register the 50.00 saturday night special they got on the street, dont care if the magazine was legal, and it was likely stolen somewhere anyway. certainly not bought legally... and denying the right to legally carry, with large magazines wont stop illegal gun trafficking.... two totally seperate issues.

I don't know why lawmakers continue to fail to realize that restricting weapons only softens up the good citizens while the bad guys remain readily and heavily armed.

Am I the only one in this once great and free country that stayed awake during History classes? This small comment is hopefully meant to give anti-gun folk something to think about. Do you really trust our Government and our alleged leaders to follow our great Constitution in the spirit it was written? Well sleepers, I will give you some examples of why we need the right to bear arms

and the ability to take our government back if our constitutional rights are ever stolen away from us. During the Civil War, there was the Conscription Riots in New York City over the draft instituted by our government. This led to many hundreds of citizens by our goverment troops; the American Indians, who actually owned this country before we did, were slaughtered by our Federal troops under orders from Washinton; You must have heard about the interment camps and property siezure of the Japanese Americans during WW2; Can anyone say, "Kent State." This was during the Vietnam War protests when our troops once again fired at their own people and killed four and maimed many others; And who can forget Hurricane Katrina where you had a choice of harm either from the criminals or the New Orleans Police. The Symbionese Liberation Army, Ruby Ridge, Waco, etc, etc. And if any race or wealthy person thinks he is safe from their governments, google Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Mao tse tung, Castro, Sadaam Hussein, The Ayatollah, among some of the world's dictators who have slaughtered their own. So if any of you anti-gunners are hoping our government will save you or spare you if we end up with a dictator, you are sadly mistaken and will wish that you stayed awake during History class. G*D Bless our Country.
