Should the Healthcare Reform Law Be Repealed?

Jeremy: Eisenhower's comments on the need and hope for charity in no way indicate he thought _government_ should be the source of that charity.

It isn't charity if it's extracted at gunpoint.

The healthcare bill (Obamacare) that passed was not helath reform at all. WHat a sham. They did not address cost drivers, i.e., why a semi private room cost 5 or 6k a day, a roll of TP $5 a day even when not used , ehy you get six different bills for one visit to the emergency room, from th hospital, dr, anastesia, etc etc.... They never for a minute addressed the issue of what is driving the cost of healthcare through the roof for EVERYBODY. Not just the insured. This was nothing more than a misguided attempt to force everybody to buy health insurance, even if they can afford to be self unsured, under the premise that somehow it will control costs. It wont. If you dont go to the root of the cause, the cost drivers, then this plan will not work. Healthcare is provided up front with no discussion about casts because somebody else is always paying the bill. If you had to pay out of your pocket, you would shop around for the best quality and lowest cost. Thts only part of the problem. Lawyers are the biggest part. they drive up the cost of everything in this world.

This President is the WORST EVER!!!

Wanna mandate something? Then make everyone do military service... or how about working for uncle sam for free to pay for your welfare/obamacare/free crap.... There are plenty of highways that need trash cleaned up... Or maybe we can stop allowing Congress to make their positions a career with term limits...

You people make me sick... and I PAY for my own healthcare

No way we should let a loud minority try to repeal healthcare reform.

Our healthcare system is broken and we need to build on what we have already accomplished. We know the folks trying to repeal it are not offering anything to replace it and they are in the pocket of the special interests who get rich off our broken healthcare system.

Its an inherent American attribute to provide for the lesser among us. George Washington started by paying for healthcare from the federal coffers.

Face it, the Medicare and healthcare through the VA are the most efficient deliveries of healthcare, with the least overheard. So the repeal crowd should be were offering to replace with Medicare for all or VA for all, then we might stop laughing at their absurd nonsense.

One Republican got it right ...

"To all the peoples of the world, I once more give expression to America's prayerful and continuing aspiration: We pray that peoples of all faiths, all races, all nations, may have their great human needs satisfied; that those now denied opportunity shall come to enjoy it to the full; that all who yearn for freedom may experience its few spiritual blessings. Those who have freedom will understand, also, its heavy responsibility; that all who are insensitive to the needs of others will learn charity; and that the sources -- scourges of poverty, disease, and ignorance will be made [to] disappear from the earth"

Just like his Master ("spread-the-wealth around") Obama, S.C. Democrat Rep. James Clyburn is and always has been for free loading off someone else's dime.

Of course, with the fat salary Clyburn and his like-minded ilk have voted themselves along with a ton of federal perks, including extraordinary health care benefits again voted for themselves, why would he have any concerns about the abomibable costs of Obamacare to us little guys and small businesses? He has no appreciable skin in the game, after all.

And he obviously has even less conscience about the sordid back room deals and plain lies concocted for the OMB cost analysis for his Master's Obamacare (including a $500 billioon dollar Medicare cut) by his caucus, which will contribute immesurably to the national debt that's on a rapid track to falling off the cliff. Yet Clyburn's idea is to just keep on increasing spending so as to spread the wealth around" until the train runs off the cliff. sams the most elementary knowledge of economics.

Maybe the idiot will wake up when the Sumreme Court rules Obamacare unconstitutional! It's sad that Obama and his cohorts want to slow down as long as possible the inevitable ruling by the highest court in the land.

As usual, Obama says one thing and does precisely the opposite. He claimed in his January State of the Union address that he wanted to minimize partisan politics. Then he turns right around and instructs his Justic Department to impede an "expidited review" by the Supreme Court by any means possible. Screw the states....

Attorney General Erik Holder is no more than a toady Obama accolite, willing to press charges against whites for vote intimidation but unwilling to pursue charges agains Black Panthers for voter intimidation against white ederly woman.

Obviously, this is the sordid concept of constitutional law equality community organizer Obama learned in Harvard Law School.

Bill Stuart

then he turns right around and instructs his Justic

What a wonderful public servent....

No way ! The bill could be improved as the President says. Never repealed. There seem,s to be 3 things the Republicans talk about. 1. The mandatory requirement. 2.Want purchase across state lines.

3.Government take over. Regarding the mandate. When an individual with out Med.Ins has a reason to need care they are aware that they are that they can be seen in ER and can not be turned away . Most of them are not able to pay and this causes the Hospital to absorb the cost which is then passed on to other paying consumers for their usage of hospital care. That then translates into higher insurance costs and of course higher premium costs. Why allow this? This rases rates all across the spectrum of medical care, medicare included. The reform Bill forces the purchase of coverage or a fine. It also makes afordable rates and coverage for the lower pay indivduals. Re- Sales across state lines! There has to be same coverage in all states in order for comparison purposes, other wise where is the competition that the opposition is lookig for? There is no government take over. That is pure lies and hypocracy. Medicare is a government program, and successful. The insurance cos. are still in business, as for rationing ,they are the rationers. The insurance cos. are the ones that specify coverage and tell you what hospital, the Dr. in many cases.

The earlier statement that the Republicans have had sole power in a good number of Admin. the last 50yrs and have NEVER done anything ecept for part D medication coverage which is a sugar plum for insurance cos and high cost to the consumer.Treform Bill helps reduce cost. The only thing the Republican party does is complain and whine when the Democrats do advance any help to the every day consumer. Ideology and the continuance of opposing President Obama on any thing .

The Republican Party is composed of a butch of HYPOCRITS. Before they touch Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid they had better get rid of their FREE, bloated benefit package. Both parties have had almost FIFTY years to come up with a reasonable, rational health reform. But of course, they do not worry since they only pay a smidget of their health care for them and their families....they let the taxpayer carry the burden of paying for the majority of their bloated salaries, health care and pensions. If the GOP does not want an all out war with seniors they had better tread carefully because they will call upon themselves a brigade of wheelchair, cane-carrying seniors who will knock them up the sides of their heads if they attempt to touch Social Security or medicare. Why don't they suggest putting all the Congressional funds for their health care and pensions into Social Security and Medicare then they can sign into these programs. I would love to see them live on a $1,000 a month and depend on Medicare instead of getting Cadillac, free health care for them and their families. Hypocrits! What do they intend to do leave the poor, disabled and elderly without health care....out on the streets dying? Short term, they have had the last two years to come up with an adjusted plan and they have nothing, absolutely nothing but their everlasting whining and complaining. Let me see Boehner and McConnell give up their plans first and then let's discuss compromises to health care. Idiots!

A. Geary of IA 12:29PM February 02, 2011

As the current bill is not perfect, I would suggest first amending it. But since the Republicans hate it altogether, they wish to start all over again. I'm sure that will result in no bill, no how, never.

As a compromise, I suggest that the current bill remain the health care bill and work start on the new, changed, compromise (yes, THAT is NECESSARY) bill. However both parties must agree on the new health bill before it gets passed and one provision of the new bill MUST BE that it supercedes and replaces the old bill

This last provision is necessary because otherwise there will not be a healthcare bill if not passed in this fashion.

Michael P. Wein of TX 10:50AM February 02, 2011

That is your best argument. You are getting more simple minded. Perhaps, FOX, The Heritage Foundation, Koch Brothers are doing their job too well.

Tree Hugger of CO 10:24AM February 02, 2011

Comparing health insurance to car insurance has been debunked long, long ago. Not going to debunk for a uninformed person as yourself. Read other articles today and you MAY learn. I doubt you will. L E A R N that is...
