The Founding Fathers, Religion, and God

This is just an oppinion, what I relate the big switch in the influence of religion on society, comes down to one the thing, the use of fear. We were told to be afraid of drugs, gangs, the Russians, Musslims, the list is endless. News agencys broadcast why, what, when, we were supposed to be affraid, politicians picked up the scare em ball and ran withit. Thats when the telvangilist chimed in, letting the folks that were already, programed to beleive what they were told, because they could'nt make it to church , but were still saved, as long as they sent enough money, and said their prayers, usualy in that order. I worked, we heard a whole presidential campeign, that opened almost every add, billboard, and press release, with that not famous phrase, "do you feel safer now" felt like I was stuck in a '60's movie about dentiest and diamonds. It was picked up by one cannadate after the next, specificaly to help with the paranoia, making sure that any that had'nt been befor, were now. The next thing that happens the bottom falls out of the financial foundation. Again the folks from t.v. pick it up and it turns into "God's Wrath". I guess it breaks down to cause and effect, again. You use a tool to pry fear out, you'll be able to see the pinch point, in the soft part of the wood.

Don't sugar coat it, most of the founding fathers were Deists. Jefferson wasn't "a skeptic personally about Christianity" He openly expressed his contempt for the Christianity and the lies of the bible.

Males are designed to dominate in all of their relationships, particularly with females, and this is at the core of most of the problems that have afflicted mankind since the origin of the species.

This dominate trait in the make-up of males was responsible for the creation not only of the world’s cultures but also the creation of gods to explain the phenomena of life, nature and the cosmos in general.

When males in the human species became self-aware they developed a compelling urge for an explanation of life and the material world around them, and began creating gods to explain how it all came about.

Virtually all if not all ancient people created a multitude of gods to explain their existence and the existence of animals, the seas, the mountains, the weather and other elements of nature—resulting in an array of gods that in some cultures continue to be worshipped today.

Then between four and five thousand years ago the religious leaders of a group of Hebrew tribes who lived what is now Israel gradually came to the conclusion that there should be just one god so they created a single god and began to preach that he was the only God. [Members of these tribes later became known as Jews, from the name of one of the tribes.]

However, this one-god theology was not effective in changing the inherent nature of men, so some two thousand years ago Jewish prophets decided to add an additional element by introducing an earthly representative of God who decades after his birth became known as Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who could act directly with his followers and presumably be more effective.

This too failed to curb the ignorance, willful stupidity and violent nature of males, so still today all of the different versions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam—along with other religious cults—are rent with varying degrees of discrimination, greed, intolerance and violence.

My book, MEN CREATED GOD IN THEIR OWN IMAGE THEREAFTER EVERYTHING WENT TO HELL, explains why males regard themselves as superior to females; why females are in fact superior to males; why both male and female sexuality has been misunderstood and misused; the damage done to females by religions, and the transition from a religious-based morality to a money-and-profit-based morality that has spread around the world.

Fundamental cultural changes are essential before human beings can rise up out of the muck and mire of all of the male-created and male-dominated cultural institutions—religious, economic, educational, political and social—and achieve their full potential.

Too much has been read into and added to the First Amendment, that the meaning has completely changed over the years.

The First amendment simply says, CONGRESS shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion or the free exercise thereof," in addition to guaranteeing the right to free speech and free assembly.

It says nothing about a public official publicly honoring the sovereignty of God (i.e. - Chief Justice Roy Moore being removed from the Alabama Supreme Court a few years ago because of displaying the 10 commandments and honoring God as the source of our law.) It also says nothing about a president or governor asking people to pray (i.e. - Texas Governor Rick Perry initiating a prayer event August 6 to call on God for help - way to go Governor Perry!!)

It also says nothing about whether one state can prefer one religion over another. The 10th Amendment would seem to imply that it would be a state by state issue, not a federal one. The same as an employer who prefers to hire employees of one religion or another.

My grandparents had to flee Northern Ireland after death threats because of conflicts between Catholics and Protestants. She was Protestant, and he was Catholic. When I became of age, I volunteered and joined the Army, and I served as an 11B Infantryman. Most of my time in the field was in squad or platoon size operations. We would have discussions about what we were fighting for. It always came back to the “Bill of Rights”. To me the most important was “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…”

What else did our Founding Fathers have to say about religion?

"Question with boldness even the existence of a god." - Thomas Jefferson (letter to Peter Carr, 10 August 1787):

"All natural institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian, or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit." Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason;

"Religion and government will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together", John Madison.

It is plain that Environmentalism, and its cousin, "Climate Change" has evolved into Neo-Pantheism - an old religion with a new set of clothes. These new religions are particularly appealing to progressive elitists, communists and socialists as they provide instruments of control through their dogmas of "social justice", cap and trade, global warming, green jobs .

For decades liberals struggled against reality to build a wall of separation between church and state. These progressive humanists toiled endlessly expanding its shadow over the land. The knights of the ACLU and their liberal men-at-arms (uh-oh, a p.c. boo-boo alert - of course I mean to include Rad-Fems as "men-at-arms", after all, the Earth Goddess is ah... a "goddess") manned the great wall and were ever vigilant against the threat of Christianity. Then one day they spied a giant, green horse, bedecked with flowers and cute, fuzzy animals and singing birds outside the wall. Charmed by the innocent and soothing sounds, they threw open the gates and welcomed the Gaian Horse of Pantheism inside the walls. Slowly, our stalwart protectors have themselves been seduced - transformed into intolerant, religious zealots - the very thing they once feared.

Now, Neo-Pantheism controls politicians, the media, courts, schools and the bureaucracies of government. Unfortunately, it is far too late to rid ourselves of, what has become, our "State Religion". It has swept through our states, cities and towns like a whirlwind over the past 3 decades... Its propaganda and intolerant dogma are now accepted as truth and science. Global Warming - a man caused hell - used to coerce and whip us into submissive, penitent servants of Government and nature.

Their creed is simple;

"All forms of human endeavor are evil.

Man's only purpose is to serve the Earth and the governments that protect her.

The only permissible interaction between man and nature is restoration, conservation, preservation and veneration."

Vast areas of our oceans and shoreline are being closed, wild places ringed with gates, “Closed” signs and fences - Barriers that keep us, we the people, confined to our prisons of concrete and asphalt. Of course, exceptions are made for government officials and scientific acolytes of Gaia - they are trained in the theology of Environmentalism and know how to interact with the Nature Goddess and so are allowed inside these sanctuaries.

Energy production, mining, food production, industry, transportation - even civilization itself, is considered an insult and injurious to Gaia.

Our future reveals a sterile veneration of nature - without actually living in, or experiencing it. A dull, sullen time when gray, grim, flaccid people worship “climate models", worry about how to mitigate their perceived sins against nature, consider their carbon footprint their soul and seek the indulgences of carbon credits to erase their "eco-sins".

All must bow to our “Green, New World Order" , or suffer.

There is a difference between a government official "asking people to pray" at a public function, something that Jefferson would have opposed, and a government official praying, something that Jefferson did. The Supreme Court wisely makes this point in the McCreary case.

Mr. Kidd might miss the point as his book tends to miss the fact that religious freedom is intended to accept neutrality not just among various sects, but between religion and non-religion (so atheists, pagans, Hindus, Muslims, Christians, ... are all protected).

Madison explained that because God gave us our right to freedom of religion (think Martin Luther), than no human institution can interfere. Thus, it is the fact that God gave us human rights, and that our religious obligations are to God, that demands a complete separation of church and state. Anything else corrupts religion and our relationship with God (think Christ's admonition on "give to Caesar"). Of course, there were other reasons for separation as well.

These are complex issues, some of which I discuss in Wellspring of Liberty, but it never ceases to amaze me that those who are most vocal against big government and government intrusion into private matters seem to be willing to let government meddle in religion.

The founders had it right. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." Anytime the government establishes a state religion, or that there will be no religion, there is trouble (just watch "The Tudors" for an example of establishing a religion; or read modern history for examples of no religion). People should be free to worship as they choose. I also see nothing wrong with elected officials asking someone to pray at a government hearing. They are citizens too and if they agree to have people pray, or to pay a chaplain, then that's what they should do.

Churches are tax exempt because they are nonprofit organizations. If we charge churches taxes then we should also charge other nonprofits, such as homeless shelters, womens' shelters, etc. with taxes. All of these organizations, including churches, are similar in that they help people who are in trouble (also, think of organizations like Samaritan's Purse and World Vision, nonprofits that help people all over the world daily). DeeToo is correct in saying that churches have been and are guilty of fleecing the flock, but not all churches do this. Many churches are very charitable, their pastors receive modest salaries and drive cars that most middle class people drive. A great percentage of the churches in America have modest decor - some even meet in store fronts or rent school buildings.
