The stakes in the November 2 midterm elections are control of the House and Senate, and thus control of the national agenda leading up to the 2012 elections. U.S. News asked the chairmen of the two major parties to make their case for control.

The question this Election Day is: Do we continue to move forward with Democrats or go backward with Republicans? If we choose Democrats, they will continue to turn the economy around, lay a foundation for long-term growth, and empower Americans to succeed. They will ensure that America is as strong and...

We do not lack a positive agenda to get America back on track. We stand for your keeping the money you earn, so you can make it work for your family and the economy. We stand for cutting the red tape crushing small business. Congress should vote on costly regulations invented by unelected bureaucrats before being foisted on America's job creators.

Democrats have made the economy worse!!!!!!! 5-7% unemployment before they took office , then their hostile, anti-business, pro-socialist policies have driven the economy into the ditch and kept it there near 10%. Its even higher in many states like Florida, Michigan, Ohio and Nevada 14% plus.

Mixed government will be better because both parties will have to WORK together on issues instead of Democrats forcing Socialism's failed policies upon a population that does NOT want them.

Boot these Socialists!!!!!!!!!!!! Who only want to expand government and tax the productive people in society to give welfare to the slothful. Eventually you run out of "other peoples money". Business is sitting on the sidelines because of the policies of the Democrats, who would hire with such a hostile white house and congress running the show?

Anyone who thinks that either the Democrats or the Republicans will benefit the people who actually pay the taxes has got to be delusional. Democrats will save Social Security? Save it from what? Bankruptcy? Oops, too late. Republicans don't like big government? I don't think so. Both parties have contributed to our sad fiscal position.

I can't blame the political parties, though. They are only delivering what "We the People" have asked for. The Sun is starting to set on the great American experiment and we are all to blame.
