Supreme Court Approval Ratings, 2000-2010

The high court's approval rating is at one of its lowest points over the last decade.

As Justice Elena Kagan begins her tenure as the newest member of the Supreme Court, the latest Gallup figures on approval ratings suggest that the public may not view the court in very high regard. Its current approval rating is just barely 50 percent, with its lowest rating over the past decade hovering just above 40 percent. Toward the end of the year 2000 its approval rating was above 60 percent--the highest it has been over the last 10 years. See the graphic below to get a better sense of the data.
