According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, some states have a lot more smoke than others. A handful of states in the Midwest and the South have smoking rates higher than 22 percent, but New England states' percentage rates tend to hover in the teens. In Kentucky, West Virginia, and Oklahoma, a whopping 25 percent of adults smoke, more or less. Click around below to see to what extent adults in other states are puffing up.

The map is misleading: The smoking rate has declined over 10% (overall) over the last 20 years and is still declining.

Obesity is at 35.6 percent and rising fast. The smoking laws are so strict that secondhand smoke can be neglected (in most states). Smokers are paying more for health insurance and additionally tobacco taxes and die earlier and faster than fat people who don't pay more and are the reason the costs for heath insurance is rising and the impact on the workforce is enormous.

Let's concentrate on the real problems in American rather than giving emphasis on a minor problem

I am going to stay away from states like Kentucky and West Virginia. These places have lousy weather and very uneducated people. They decide to start smoking at the age of 10, must be their stupid culture. Over a quarter of the population smoke in these states, that's pretty sad. We've had over 40 years of warnings about cigarette smoking and these idiots still deceide to start smoking. Pathetic!!!
