Glenn Beck's rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., on Saturday was meant to restore honor to America and return the country to the values on which it was founded. In an interview with Fox News, the network that broadcasts his weekday television program, Beck said the rally's intent was to reclaim the U.S. civil rights movement "from politics," and that the movement is about "people of faith." During his speech on Saturday, Beck took on a spiritual tone and urged the country to "turn back to God." "Look forward. Look West. Look to the heavens. Look to God and make your choice," he said. But Beck's speech at the event, which was held on the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, has also been criticized. Thomas Jefferson Street blogger Jamie Stiehm, in the voice of Abraham Lincoln, writes, "... in all my years on this chair in this temple of democracy, this rambling talk of 'restoring honor,' leaves me of all people--speechless!"
