The Average Cost of a U.S. College Education

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the difference between tuition and the net cost less financial aid at public two-year colleges is not that significant, relatively speaking: roughly a few thousand dollars. But looking at private nonprofit four-year schools, that figure jumps dramatically, to almost $20,000. The average annual tuition (plus expenses) at a private nonprofit four-year college is about $35,000. Click around below to see how the numbers stack up.

This is great info for beginners international students , but now cost should be updated ; as approx. eight months are passed now , because world , European Asian economies etc are randomly changing during this global melt down period.Real-time info would be preferable.

At-least it should be categorized for prospective students coming from different country , states and continent with postal zip code entry. So just enter zip code of your residence and you get approx. cost in their respective currency.

Why don't you provide pictorial and graphical info so that just by moving cursor on any 50 states of USA we get annual average index of annual cost of education/ living.Just move the cursor on some state or educational institution and you get prima facie real time cost info.

Any unintentional inconvenience or comments is regretted.

I assume this graph demonstrates the overall net cost to the student less financial aid. How does government subsidies to public colleges factor into this cost?
