The Republican National Committee has unleashed a 50-second Web ad which depicts Democrats frantically exiting Air Force One down an inflatable chute, in the style of JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater, over the prospect of receiving campaign help from President Obama. "With unemployment hovering around double digits and a majority of Americans unhappy with the direction of the country, it is not a surprise endangered Democrats do not want President Obama to come to their districts and remind voters of their failed economic policies," says RNC Chairman Michael Steele. But Thomas Jefferson Street blogger Leslie Marshall says that Democrats aren't running at all. Or if they are, they aren't running any more than the Republicans are from their leaders. "Democrats aren’t leaving their party and they’re certainly not jumping off a jet," she writes. She adds that Rep. Jack Kingston, a Republican from Georgia, begged Sarah Palin to get out of the endorsement business after her candidate for governor there lost. "And Palin’s poll numbers are high," says Marshall. [See who supports Kingston.]
