Was the Prop 8 Gay Marriage Ruling the Right Decision?

In what liberals are calling a major victory for equal rights and civil liberties, yesterday District Judge Vaughn Walker ruled that California's Proposition 8, which bans same-sex marriage, is unconstitutional. Observers say the ruling will be appealed, and some supporters of same-sex marriage feel that a court battle is not how to win gay rights. Conservatives have decried the ruling as judicial activism, but others, like Thomas Jefferson Street blogger Karen Finney, call it a win for American values. She writes, "...denying gay couples the right to marry, not only denies basic civil rights, liberty, and freedom, but also codifies bigotry."

There are citizens who believe words such as, "religious beliefs", "morality", and even "God", be eliminated from consideration in the make up of the laws of this country, especially the current controversy of recognizing and legalizing marriage of the same sex.

These same citizens need to understand that the laws enacted will not stop at the legalization of homosexual marriages. Given time and considering the growing masses of this country, laws WILL be passed regarding the legalization of "beastiality", "marriage to animals", "marriage to children", and "marriage to inanimate objects", etc, etc, etc.

Bahhh!! Who needs the words, "God", "morality", or "religious beliefs"?

If you believe I'm crazy, you haven't given this enough thought!

I know it was the right decision. I live in Florida, and have very strong feelings toward people downing gay people and anything like goth or emo, you don't know how people act, yah their under your label but so what! People need to rethink their actions, it is despicable how they can fight and say that they want to ban marriage for gays.

Think what if your best friend, sister, brother, or just someone close to you, came up and said I'm gay. What would you do then! Discrimination because you think that it isn't right for the same sex marriage your the one with the sick head. People who love each other very much are the same as you loving someone very much. Think about it really, don't listen to the stupidity that's clogging your system. Would you really disown someone for that, or throw everything away?

When i was in seventh grade just about i went to a concert with my sister held at the high school, there i learned she was lesbian. I wasn't shocked, I accepted her, she's the same person she was before and after she told me. We still play video games together, talk. Nothings different. Friends come up to me all the time and tell me i think I'm gay...I'm not attracted to guys i feel nothing, but when I'm with a girl it just feels right. i strait up tell them its ok, ill help you all i can, because i know how tough life can be.

People need to grow up and learn you can't judge someone by their "label". I live in Florida, have a handsome boyfriend, I'm Fifteen and i think its pathetic that you tell your kids not to bully and accept people why can't you!
