Obama Can Learn From the British on Debt Management

Ms Cary,

Do you really understand what you're suggesting? Let's follow the British into the abyss. They have totally mis-managed their debt, and here you are suggesting we do the same. How about this:

1) Make people responsible for their own lives. Life is hard. Bad things happen. The government cannot be a sugar daddy. Cut social spending by 99%, fire thousands of ineffective and useless government workers (they are no longer needed).

2) Cut back the federal government by 25% across the board. Come on! Are you really so naive to think there's not at least that much waste in the system?

3) Privatize Social Security. Guess what? There IS NO LOCK BOX! The Feds have spent ALL of your, mine, and our grand-children's retirement. Accept it and go on!

4) Tell people the truth: We are broke. We must work the next 10 years to pay off the debt. no frills, no nothing. Raise taxes to 75% of all wealth during these years, pay off the debt (which we have benefitted from) so our children and grand-children don't have to pay for us.

5) Tell people more truth: Work = money. If they want money, they must work for it. No workey, no money.

We've tried to spend our way out of recession by falsely believing somehow government creates jobs (it doesn't) and we can avert a catastrophe (we cannot). Now it's time to "pay the piper" of our own fiscal mis-management. Forget the blame game! Were in the sh*t now, we've got to dig our way out and all the blame in the world doesn't equate to raking the muck, which is what we must do NOW to move forward.
