State Tax Collection up Nearly $4 Billion

States collected more than $164 billion in total taxes during the first quarter of 2010

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, states collected nearly $4 billion more in taxes during the first quarter of 2010 than they did during the same quarter last year. California topped them all, collecting almost $26 million in total taxes--a roughly $3.5 million increase from the first quarter of 2009. New York followed closely behind, with an approximate increase of $2.3 million in taxes collected. Click around below to see how the other states stack up.
