This arguement can go on for ever but as Kevin from NJ said, violence and war are shown to kids everyday through television everyday. Almost all games should be sold to kids. Now if you think that a game that shows you killing little kids should be sold to a five year old you are very wrong. Kids should be abel to buy any game from a game for kids five and younger to games for teens but if you want a rated mature game you need a parent to be there to say that it is ok. I do not beleive that video games will make you go crazy and go on a killing spree.

First, "kids" "should" be sold "violent" "video games!":

"Kids" who are responsible enough to interpret the content appropriately should be allowed to experience it, ideally accompanied by discussion with parents.

I.e. content that is thought-provoking, cooperative, competitive, or expository or promotes problem-solving or strategic thinking skills which many "violent video games" do.

The scope of the types of "video games" is vast, a large portion of such games definitely contain ideas deserving protection via the first amendment.

First off, if your like me you play violent video games all day long when you are able too. Second, i am only eleven years old. I am also very smart for my age. I can read at a 12th grade level. Also i am a hard core gamer. i play halo, metal gear solid, god of war, grand theft auto, legend of Zelda, splinter cell, prince of Persia, Max Payne, prototype, WoW, and Dungeons and Dragons online: unlimited. I even play normal D&D on the weekends(Half-elf wizard lvl 16 for pen and paper game normal Elf for DDO ). As you can guess i am a social reject. i get made fun of for being fat, i have never had a girlfriend, the list goes on and on. My only escape during the day, is playing video games with my brother and online w/ my friends. I am even a subscriber to game informer. Right now i am waiting for DC universe online to come out for my PS3. as you can see i am a so-called nerd. if violent video games were out-lawed, i would not be able to play most of my favorite video games. Video games that are intended for children my age are completely stupid and lack a feeling of fun when you've been playing legacy of Kain:blood omen since you were 2 years old. And unless you are mentally unstable already, video games wont do any harm.

A Video Game is violent and now instantly looked down upon, A movie has violence yet it can win many awards for being great. A game is only high tech animation yet a movie is real life with special effects that can be more realistic than a game. The game in any instance can have a much better story line than the movie because it is clearly a better piece of medi because of its emersive gameplay, plot and is more enjoyable than the movie but it is put down because of the movie, why? Wars, Genocides and massacres. These are cruel violent events yet these are taught freely in schools and now that they are history they aren't as bad in these governors' eyes now are they? Simply put a Video Game is one of many forms of media that are full of violence yet it is the only form that is put down for what reason? I don't know, could anyone tell me why?

This law basically spits on the Constitution and all the freedoms we are SUPPOSED to have as Americans. The government needs to stop trying to censor everything and let the PARENTS decide what is right for their kids! The games all have ratings just like movies so if some parents dont bother to read them it's their own stupidity. These kinds of laws have been struck down in every state as unconstitutional and I have confidence this one will be as well.

It seems that anything new and popular strikes fear into the hearts of those so desperately gripping, clawing, and grasping at bygone days and times as they fall deeper into the past. Television became the devil-box and rock n' roll was dubbed evil; now video games are the source of depravity among our youth. While those that think this way bat at the oncoming future with their fire-sticks, tomorrow still comes.

The youth of America face new challenges and enjoy new forms of entertainment. How each of these are approached are up to the choices made by the individual undertaking them... and these choices are made based on the understanding bestowed upon them by their parents or guardians. If you allow tv to be your babysitter, then your child will be the product of whatever programming he/she watches unless the child is shown the difference between reality and fantasy. A child with this understanding will make healthy choices even if they've played a violent game or a block busting puzzle game.

I've played video games since the heroes in said games were represented by a big red square and I've never committed a violent crime nor has anyone in my family. There will forever be violence and new things to blame it on. Rarely does anyone in the position to speak to the masses press the parents to look inward and ask if they've done their jobs as parents.

were is the freedom we are to stand for??the childens parents should have the say on these grounds, not the gov.

I don't want you to make more and more laws making sure no one is allowed to do anything in this stupid country, especially based on your health care arguments, your forced socializing, and your forced job agenda, but I really don't even care at this point.

Do what you want because it's a win/win for me. If you don't pass it, freedom will be preserved. If you do pass it, companies that don't deserve recognition will hopefully get less customers and hopefully be forced to cease functionality.

I could hope to get a point through, but the thing is, I know reasoning with you people is futile. I don't actually care about the kids. Shut the companies down so they lose money; that's all I care about with you.
