A Nuclear Iran Could Become the First ‘Suicide State’

It continues to amaze me how history can be forgotten or worse ignored! 65 years ago today, this now 84 year old retired surgeon was a radio-operator in the 87th Infantry Division, 3rd Army, fighting across central Germany! The German civilians loved their Hitler, and consciously ignored, if not helped round-up some 6 million who were systematically erased from the face of this earth! We freed the first concentration camp - Buchenwald - believe me it is something that one never forgets! My pictures of same concerning the holocaust, I actually carried a camera with me, are with the proper museum here in the L.A. area.

One does not have to hide behind "appropriate language," -- Antisemitism is exactly what the spelling of the letters indicate! Are we going to be like "good Germans" and follow the folly of those who love to express putting one "group" of individuals above another? Let us still call a spade a spade! Anti- Jewish or anti-any one for not being the mirror-image of oneself is certainly not the "American ethic." We removed "slavery" some two hundred years ago -- let's continue to stand for what is morally correct for one to stand for!

The only threat to Israeli's existence is of Israel's own making. Iran is simply one example of this. The Iranians have no nuclear weapons and no delivery system for their speculative nukes. Simply put, they have no ability to destroy Israel - unless Ahmedinejad talking them to death counts!

All Iran can do is supply arms to Hizbollah and Hamas. A supply which pales in comparison to the arms America gives Israel.

This is not a self defence issue, except in the wild imaginations of people who prefer fantasy to fact. The only existential threat is Israel's inability to get along with any of its neighbours. Even Hamas has offered an indefinate ceasefire if Israel would stop blockading Gaza and starving the population. There are no extremists threatenig Israel's existence. Just Israeli extremism guaranteeing them endless conflicts.

You make a poor argument when you contradict yourself. You state Palestinians aren't interested in peace then proceed to state Israelis won't give up a sliver of Jerusalem(even though Palestinians have lived in half the city for generations). From that single example, which side isn't interested in peace?

If you believe Palestinians have the freedom to visit their holy places then you are living in a fantasy world. Forget al Asqa mosque, Palestinians are not even free to travel anywhere.

Perhaps that is why many Palestinians hate Israel. Or maybe it's the fact Israel will never give back all the West Bank, even though the West Bank only makes up 33% of Palestine. So the Palestinian population will soon be equal to the Jewish population yet Palestinians don't even merit a third of the land. What part of that third Israel will give them will be the inferior land and not include any water.

Which brings us to the Gaza pull out...what pull out? Israel has sealed the border and violates the air space daily. A bunch of settlements were closed - great PR trick - but the IDF has never left Gaza alone. Perhaps that's why Palestinians fire rockets into Israel in retaliation?

Deal with the facts people. Blindly defending Israel or reciting the mainstream media's propaganda only makes you look ignorant.

Iran has every right to arm itself and defend itself from Israel. If Israel can have nukes, why can't Iran?

Brian:

Your "jewish" friends like the many Jews that were dumb enough to vote OBama are misinformed. First, the Palestinians have absolutely no interest in peace with Israel. They want Tel Aviv, West Jerusalem, the Negev, the Galil and everything in between.

Second, Arabs don't value Jerusalem the same way jews do. To muslims, Mecca and Medina are the two holiest places followed by Jerusalem. TO Jews, no place is more important than jerusalem and the temple mount (Al Aksa). Jews would rather give up all of Israel and keep Jerusalem jewish then give up even a sliver of Jerusalem. We can't. It was given to us by God and to give it away would be unwise to say the lease.

Third, when the Arabs controlled eastern Jerusalem, they forbid Jews from entering and parying at the Western Wall. SInce 1967 when Israel conqueted all of Jerusalem, the muslim mosques and holy sites have been free to muslims and banned for the most part to jews, despite jews claims to the entire temple mount. DO you really think that if Israel gave east Jerusalem back to the Palestinians they would allow jews to continue worshipping at their holy sites? Of course not.

Fourth, Even if Israel capitulated to all of the Palestinians and Obama's ridiculous demands, including giving up 100% percent of the West Bank and east jerusalemt, allowing the right of return to millions of palestinians, not to the west bank and gaza but to Israel (tel-aviv, haifa, etc.) that would still not be enough, because all the Palestinians know and want is to wage war. Look at Gaza, Israel withdrew its forces, kicked out 10,000 israelis and left Gaza to be run by the PA. Instead of stopping the violence it increased it. Thousands of bombs, missle and rockets have been fired at Israel from Gaza. Palestinians are killing each other in a grab for power. This would happen in the west bank and jerusalem too. The reason is that the mentality and culture of the palestinians is to hate, steal, kill and destroy. Look at all the money that the world has given the Palestinians. Billions of dollars over the years, yet over 90% of the money never makes its way to those that need it most. Instead the Palestinian leaders and terrorists steal it all for deposit in their swiss bank accounts.

As for Iran: if they are allowed to obtain nuclear weapons, they will use them on Israel (which coincidentally would kill tens of thousands of arabs as well), they Sunni neighbors in Saudi Arabia, on Europeans, and of course on the top of their list would be Washington DC and New York. Even if you are right that their hatred of the US is our fault for the IRan Iraq war, that shouldn't blind us to the fact that they will kill millions of americans with these weapons, destroy the world's economy and wipe out the only world goverment that keeps this world from returning to wwII type wars.

We should forget sanctions and just carpet bomb their military and nuclear facilities now. Only force will prevent greater evil.

I am not an anti semite..I have Jewish friends some of which have educated me on the issue and helped me come to my now knowledgable feelings (this is opposed to my previously ignorant opinions)

Anyone who doesn't understand why Iran is afraid of the USA and wants nuclear weapons needs a history lesson. The fact is Iran has had WMD's used against them... by Iraq.. who had been given the chemical weapons by the USA and France and told to use them on the Iranians. Even before that we propped up the Shah of Iran..one of the most brutal dictators in the region. We (the United States) created the Iranian revolution and their fear of the United States. Add to that our blind support of Israel who is running Gaza like a giant prison and annexing East Jerueslam and if you don't understand what is going on you are clueless or just intentionally naive. We don't teach the Israel/Palestine conflict in schools anymore because NO ONE can justify the settlements in anyway. We should stop funding Israels war machine.. make them accept a 2 state solution..and I'll say it..cut enough land off so that Gaza and the West Bank attach to eachother.

I tend to agree with Mr Alexander about this thing of friction between Israel and Iran. Israel is not only a sovereign state in itself but her very right of existance hinges on the God-given right of self-defence. That said,America must NOT stand in Israel's way to take out specific targets that are known to have Irael in their sights. I sincerely pray that President O'Bama realizes this and will not hinder Israel in this regard.

There have always been regional conflicts, and unfortunately, there always will be. The U.S. cannot insert itself into every regional problem and view itself as the last bastion of hope. It is a nice noble view, but a not a very pragmatic one. For Israel, as noted, the problem isn't academic, and it isn't a matter of policy. Rather, it is an existential problem. As such, the U.S. should allow Israel to conduct itself as Israel deems necessary for its own survival. In reality, a pre-emptive strategic strike, based on accurate intelligence, would make the U.S. position easier, not harder. And, for Iran, a serious offensive might not galvanize support, but might in fact strengthen the cause of the opposition. Really, what choice does the U.S. have? Economic sanctions accomplish little to nothing. Since it is internationally and politically impossible to gain a consensus on U.S.action, the smarter course would seem to give a slight nod to Israel to pursue their own self interests without fear of U.S. condemnation.

Does being a bit anti-semetic naturally predispose a person to see only what they want to about history or real antisemites? Iran is far from nuclear power and would never use it in the way its being accused of? Finding all surrounding states ready to annihilate you and doing what possible in self presevation is attacking and land stealing? Preventing those trying to kill you from doing so is genocide, when being the only side offering citizenship and freedoms to other religions NOT trying, as individuals, to kill them? The land was provided for Palestine, but refused and stolen by the surrounding nations to make pawns of them, subsidized far more by the US than those countries that put them in that position combined. All other attempts to give statehood have been stalled due to the fact that what those countries won't change on is the basic acceptance of Israel's right to exist- yet it is still seen as no deterrence to their being good 'peace' partners.

but its eastern neighbour Pakistan, which bases its ENTIRE policy on a proven-untenable theory ("2-nation theory") which was based on a hatred against the majority of the population of British India. It has many times attacked India, never able to win (even in 1965 and 1999 when India was unprepared and underequipped--it STILL shoved back the belligerent Pakistanis to their own borders) and talks much to media about "peace" when it is not at all willing to adjust to a more-sensible base-policy suggested by one of its erstwhile citizens Abdul Hameed Bhashani--which was "we now have a separate nation, let's move on and build it!".

(after failure of 1970 elections, and launch of genocidal uncivil war against its majority community, Bhashani--who was OF that community--became a citizen of the newly-independent Bangladesh, remaining so until his 1976 death at age 96).
