What did the president’s speech accomplish?

+ More

Last night, President Obama stood before Congress and millions of Americans watching on network television to deliver his first State of the Union address from Capitol Hill. His speech covered the major policy issues facing Americans today, emphasizing jobs as the administration's new priority, and also addressed the diminishing trust in government among the nation's people, calling upon legislators on both sides of the aisle to forget about their own interests and rather work for the best interests of citizens. Many see the speech as a turning point for the president and his administration, while others are skeptical that he'll be able to deliver on his continued promises for change.
