Meet the Real Barack Obama

You're correct - the total pop #s include everyone. In the end... its still only 20% of the USA. The President is still the President of people under 18 as well as people too lazy/incompentent to register.

Regarding no President in US history has ever won majority of popular vote.. I havent heard recent past Presidents using the excuse for what they do as "the majority voted us in... thus, this is what they want".

I am not sure the general public actually understands this. Most people arent registered to vote and then, within the group registered, 45-55% actually vote.

Lets just stay away from using the line.. the Majority voted for Obama and thus, we should do it.

The figure you cite would include the following groups:

1) People under the age of 18 (ineligible to vote)

2) People not registered to vote

Therefore, the fact that the majority of registered voters who voted constitutes a majority. Otherwise, by your own definition, no President in US history has ever won a majority of the popular vote...

Let me help you... Pres Obama was NOT elected by the majority (only by "registered" voters). He was received 63.25M votes. The population of the USA is between 307 and 309M. By my count, that is 20.4%. Hardly the "majority". I dont understand why so many people say this is what the people want.

Half of the comments on this page are now people complaining about "decimated economy", "humiliated military", "back-room deals", etc - you'd swear that it were 2006 and they were talking about Dubya... or that there were evidence for any of these claims (beyond the cacophony of other "feelings"-based reasoners).

Sounds like an important book. He is President to all of us, elected by the majority, and if his policies are not always to our liking, understanding him better is the best thing we can do to have influence. Blind anger solves nothing, it just cascades divisions.

The release of this book at this time is ill fated. Before the election this would have been a best seller. Releasing it now is commical. The glorification of this man proves the media can just about make anyone president. To say that this person is so intelligent he does more then walk on water (something most die hard liberals believe) is vastly unproven. I am still waiting for all of this 'intelligence' come to light. He has divided a nation, humiliated our military, decimated our economy to where recovery will almost be impossible. Maybe I am wrong...maybe it does take a genius to do all of this in 2 years.

Nothing here to urge me to buy this Obama 'Fan Club' book. Obama needs to get out of campaign mode, off the golf course, and stop all the back room deals. ..."Go-to-Work" and do something worthwhile to help the ones that work for a living. He is a person who has had everything handed to him, although we'll give credit for taking advantage of a great education. However, he needs to connect the dots on the fact that the weath he wants to redistribute is from the folks who 'Work' for it. He's been handed everything, and thinks our country can survive as a "Welfare" state.

..And to the writer Dean of OR, I think Obama and Sarah Palin are unworthy of the Oval Office, but thanks for sterotyping anyone for opposing Obama. I guess you think everyone that doesn't approve of Obama is a Sarah Palin fan. No different to think that everyone who like's Obama hates Sarah Palin. In my estimate, we hit the "Delete" button and start over, and I'm hopeful both Repubs and Dems find this out this fall.

So far he really done a great job peace prize, a tony & a emmy. When is he going to stay out of air force one & off t.v. long enough to run the contry. He is a joke!!!! The whole Govt. is a joke for the people by the people my A#*

John Spprague of GA 4:59AM June 27, 2010

Can't for once we all rally behind someone and support them; hoping they do a good job? After 9/11 the country rallied behind Bush. In retrospect, that may have given him the authority to push some things that shouldn't have been pushed, but ultimately we needed to rally behind the President. Today is no different. We are facing catostrophic problems with the budget, US infrastructure, and 2 wars. We need to rally behind the President and demand from our representation that they make it work.

Everyone knew there were problems with healthcare, but instead of sitting at the table and working it out, one side refused to sit down and discuss solutions. Now we have a policy that does not fit and all because one side was determined to push it through, while the other side refused to sit down and compromise. Imagine what we could have had? The same thing can be said for immigration and this horrendous oil spill. We need to come up with a solution, not bickering and fighting. Both sides need to find what we all agree on and work from there. That is what we need from our representatives, both Republican and Democrat.

America deserves more and our President deserves a shot at trying to right this ship. It's our duty...

Joseph of LA 4:53AM June 27, 2010

...the ones who scream the loudest and troll every article about him are the same ones who think Sarah Palin would be a great President. So there's really no need to comment on their intelligence. Nor is there a need to listen to their drivel.
