Sarah Palin and the Future of Women in Politics

I agree with Leslie, that there isn't anyone else in the GOP, with Palins Charasmatic appeal, to the GOP Right Wing base.

She takes complex issues, like Healthcare Reform, and Spins-them-down to appeal to the factually-uninformed base...like tossing Red Meat.

I believe she quit her job for a variety of reasons, one of them being, she wanted to solidify her image with the Conservative Base, in her own way, bypassing the Media Scrutiny as much as possible.

I agree there is alot of Bias in the media, born of many of her actions & stands that she took during the 2008 election.

And there is the sexism, too, from mostly men, but alot of women contribute to the sexism, from the Right, The Left and Inbetween!

I would remind my friend, Leslie, of the horrible treatment of Pres Clinton and Hillary as 1st Lady, by the Right Wing Media, during the 90's and into her run for Senator of NY.

I was not aware of Leslie in those years, so I don't know that she complained about the Media's treatment of Hillary and or the RightWingers like Rush, the GOP Blondes, whose names escape me at the moment..on RightWing Talk Radio. Granted...Pres. Clinton's Personal indescretions, gave the Media alot of fodder for gossip.

And the Impeachment Report that read like porn, published for all to read, by the Congress, in the hands of the GOP. While some of the GOP leaders, Newt Gingrich, were engaged in their own Personal indescretions and managed to keep it out of the Media, at the time...one would say rather Hypocritical.

Was Leslie complaining then?

I believe that Palin, believes, she knows what's best for her; whether it is or isn't, remains to be seen, as we get into the 2010 mid-term elections, which will have alot to do with whether she becomes the GOP Pres. Nominee.

I believe she will be. And I believe the GOP will lose and go into the wilderness for a long time.

We, women, in or out of Politics, have a ways to go, yet.

I want to see a Woman become President of the United States, in my lifetime, but not just any woman. A Woman who will be a Champion for All Women. At the moment, Sara Palin is not that Woman!

I don't know that, that is possible, because Women have always been in competition with each other. And, that has been set up by Men in the past and women have agreed to it.

I would like to believe that the current generation of young wo/men...is a horse of a different breed...a braver breed then those of us who are in our plus 40years.

That these women believe & act like they are Equal to Men, and these Men believe and act like Women are Equal to Them!

And then, Maybe, we will be able to say, We've come A long Way.
