Take Our Poll: Will President Obama's Afghanistan Strategy Work?

Will 30,000 additional troops bring stability to Afghanistan?

December 2, 2009 RSS Feed Print

Today, administration officials testified in a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing about the U.S. plan for Afghanistan, which President Obama announced last night last night. Top military commanders, according to ABC News, say that the plan, which would send an additional 30,000 troops overseas and would begin an exit in 18 months, will not work unless President Karzai's government also acts in cooperation. The president's decision came after nearly three months of strategy talks with military and policy experts, yet many still question whether it will be effective in ending violence and corruption in the unstable nation. What do you think? Will President Obama's Afghanistan strategy work? Take our poll and post your thoughts below.

Would Americans be more approving of this strategy if they were more approving of Obama? His rates are down, that any one can see. Does that significantly effect the public reaction?

If this POTUS can seriously fix healthcare, the economy, AND wrap up the overseas war by the time the next election rolls around, he's getting my vote for sure.

It's going to take a miracle to do all this at the same time!

Crossing fingers the surge works.

So we (the US and allies) can finally all go home already.

Does this mean that if any of the 30,000 soldiers shoot or punch someone they can come home and get some decent food and shelter after being arrested or court marshalled.

(Them) Don't shoot, Don't shoot! I am just part of the neighborhood you are trying to organize.

(Us) Don't worry fellas, we are only going to be here for 18 more months!

So, we have been given sticks and stones, Our commaneder in chief says they will break your bones but dont use the sticks or stones, just cuss at them, maybe they will run and hide. but words will never hurt you...

I wonder if he is right...?
