Just what is PSA Screening? A blood test that shows a mans PSA on any given day or is Screening a Prostate Biopsy?

I am a 70 yr old male recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. My PSA is 1.2 and both my doctors say this happens to some men with prostate cancer. A digitial exam discovered a node and a biopsy followed. In the many sites on prostate cancer that I have read few if give complete information on PSA testing.
