Are the White House's Attacks on Fox News Out of Line?

Is Fox News's White House coverage as biased as Anita Dunn claims?

October 21, 2009 RSS Feed Print

Last week, White House Communications Director Anita Dunn stirred up controversy when she compared Fox News to "a wing of the Republican Party" in an interview on CNN, AP reported. Some, like Thomas Jefferson Street blogger Bonnie Erbe, agree with Dunn, claiming that "Fox News is nothing more than a Republican/conservative cheat sheet," while others feel that Dunn's comments on behalf of the White House were out of line. Blogger Peter Roff argues that the White House's attack on Fox News just serves to distract conservatives from bigger policy issues. What do you think? Was Anita Dunn right? Take our poll and post your thoughts below.

"Shows with Beck and Cavuto representing center-right ideology. O'Reilly and van Susteren are more formatted for discussion of both sides of political views as it relates to current events reported in the news"

Obama may want us to get our news from rachel MANdow and femmie kieth olberman or even tingly chris mathews. Wake up people a world without fox news and the homo's will take this country over,

I think you're just a tad misguided regarding the White house and freedom of speech.

You see Brad, the White House uses tax dollars, yours and mine, to smear and ostracize a private organization with whom they do not agree. Obama's surrogates did not factually refute Fox - they called on the other news organizations to ignore and marginalize FOX - with a thinly veiled "or else". This is Don Corleone stuff. I hope Bill and Glen don't have any horses or other pets.

Yes Brad, there need be restrictions on "free speech" when it comes to paid government officials, using government power and funds to promote their boss's political agenda. One of the restrictions should be - stick to facts or "Refute with Truth" - has a nice ring, eh?

The Godfather and, "Doin' things the Chicago way.", really have no place in the White House.

You gotta admit Rahm does have that smug, "Tom Hagen" look.
