Should Obama Send More Troops to Afghanistan

October 5, 2009 RSS Feed Print

National Security Adviser James Jones said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union" program that he did not "foresee the return of the Taliban" to Afghanistan, adding that the country is "is not in danger—imminent danger—of falling." This forecast comes nearly two weeks after Gen. Stanley McChrystal warned that without more troops, the U.S. counterinsurgency mission in Afghanistan would likely fail. President Obama and his administration are still reviewing strategy in Afghanistan, yet his critics say that if he does not move quickly, more U.S. casualties, like those that occurred Saturday, will be suffered. What do you think? Should the Obama administration send more troops to Afghanistan? Take our poll and post your thoughts below.

it is my believe that if we use our aircraft and drop fire bombs in the mountains where the taliban are living in the caves we could get rid of several of them. why should we worry about their safety, burn them and bury them where they are. I haven't seen or heard of the air force being used in this war like it was in ww11 or korea. it just might save a few american lives. even if we stay in afgan there will be a civil war so get out now and let them kill each other for us.

President Obama should be a peace maker not a fighter like some U.S. former Presidents. He should withdraw all U.S. forces from Afghanistan. There is no need to be spending unnecessary money in that country. He should concentrate on the improvement of this country's economic and its safety.
