Should Letterman Have Addressed the Infidelity Blackmail on the Late Show?

Were jokes the best way for David Letterman to deal with his blackmail threats?

In a joke-filled anecdote, David Letterman told his viewers on Thursday night's Late Show that someone has been trying to blackmail him for $2 million with a screenplay exposing some "embarrassingly, terrible things" he had done—namely, having sex with his coworkers. Letterman treated the subject lightly, admitting, "I have had sex with women who work on this show." He ended the segment on a serious note, stating that he hopes to protect the people involved, his family, his job and himself by putting this matter behind him. What do you think? Did Letterman handle the situation well? Take our poll and tell us your thoughts below.

All of this leaves Regina in a unenviable position. After all, people who are in love don't cheat. It's as simple as that.

He did what was necessary to negate the threat of being blackmailed! He's not stupid! He's also not faithful, but who is???

He's a reflection of society's values, or lack of!

He's an egotistical jerk and thinks women are to be taken advantage of and put down; Vis-s-vis the constant references in a complete denigrating way about Sarah Palin. She has ignored him; however he can't let go. He sits in NY and tears apart people, then with a smug look acts as if he just made a killer of a joke!!! Conan is a refreshing change!
