Should Obama Lobby the International Olympic Committee on Behalf of Chicago?

Wasting taxpayers money is always the objective of this corrupt politician you voted in as president. It is sick to watch this fool and his partner in crime waste our money on multiple and individual plane rides that we pay for to advance his socialist schemes. If he didn't personally benefit he wouldn't be doing it. ALL of Washington is corruption on our buck. This man is the worst example of a president in our history. It is sad to say he is worse than that dried up old Carter. Please never again vote based on color this is a travesty of the incompetent. Liberals have no right to be in office of any kind, no morals, ignorant, anti Americans and corrupt..

The epitome of corruption and deception: Rangel,Dodd,Pelosi,Obama,Reid,Boxer,Frank and that little man Dean must I say anymore!

Chicago, Rezko, Acorn and Obama go hand in hand and it benefits them not Americans.

Remember that our President voted 150+ times "PRESENT". He cannot make a decision...he vasilates.

Arent' there enough problems to keep the president and his wife busy? Mr. Obama should save the taxpayers some money by staying home and focusing on more critical issues. By doing so, he can be magnanimous by giving other deserving (and perhaps needier) nations the chance to vie for the honor.

Yes, I think the President should lobby for the Olympics! It'll be good for Illinois and hopefully, visitors from abroad will be enticed to visit other parts of the USA while here.

teri of WA 7:37PM September 29, 2009

In his role as leader of the free world, what in world is he doing campaigning for the Olympics for his home town? He seems to have made a decision on this much faster than Afghanistan - where the sense of mission urgency in the White House regarding young men in combat seems to have been trumped by taking care of Chi-Town. The Administration needs to start thinking Macro instead of Micro. Chicago cannot safely support a large group of international visitors - the crime rate is off the charts, there is historical, systemic corruption, and there is no one like Mitt Romney (who put the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City in the black) in Chicago to be trusted to orchestrate something as grandiose as the Olympics without going into massive debt or failing to complete the Olympic Village. A significant amount of the monies would be skimmed as is the tradition there, and the (Chicago) politicians would "manage" the rest of it. Enough of this farce. This is an initiative that should be conducted at a much lower level than the Presidency. And the Olympic Committee needs to think long and hard about this.

Why in hell not? he can read and think while flying. ahae can also make decisions in the air.

As a Chicagoan I can tell you we cannot afford it. We presently do not have a transportation system to handle it AND there is no mention about it in Mayor Daley's dream. I also do not trust Big 'O' in what he may promise the government would do to pay the bills Chicago can't.

He belongs in D.C. handling our nations affairs not running around the world and the country to be on TV. It becomes more obvious everyday that he does not have the experience of any type of leadership.

I am 79 years old and have never missed a Presidential vote and never until now have I heard friends and others say such things as " I am sorry I voted for him" - "I voted for him, because I thought we needed a change, but he is destroying our country."

Again he belongs in Washington and get some on the job training as a leader.

If this were Bush doing it for Houston the right-wingers would be sucking it up. They gave Bush a pass on his extended vacations and allowing the US to be attacked on its own soil. How much time and money will this really take in comparison to the cost of the Iraq war for instance maybe it cost more than Sarah's campaign wardrobe? It doesn't matter what he does the conservatives on either side with scream and carrying on like the losers and babies that they all have proven themselves to be. Why isn't this just considered a good will and international relations trip? Because he's a democrat and it seems to me that the Olympics would benefit the country as a whole not just Chicago. Would the people from MA or VA protest as much if it were a Republican President doing it for a city in their own states, I think not.

DaveBronx of NY 2:36PM September 29, 2009

Further proof he isn't qualified to be President. He's on the road constantly--wasting the taxpayer's money on security and travel costs.

SS of VA 1:31PM September 29, 2009

It strikes me as a demeaning role for a sitting President to lobby with corporate sponsors. Obama is not the Mayor of Chicago.
