So far, the sports writers have done a fine job, ala Mark McGwire. let's let them handle this matter.

Yes indeed, drugs are the root of all of our problems now. Why don't we strip Arnold of his Mr. Universe titles? Americans are confusing platforms to get politicians elected with right and wrong. All of our overly harsh "drug laws" enacted since the beginning of Reagans' self-proclaimed war on drugs are strictly part of an election platform used by the far right. All of this furor is nothing more than the extension of the governments impotence in making any progress toward decreasing drug abuse in our country. All of this rhetoric is about reducing our civil liberties and increasing government control over everyone(users and non-users alike). And for the self righteous out there saying "you're wrong, drugs are the problem in this country" consider this. Stop cheating on your spouses while your kids watch your marriages fall apart. Stop robbing your fellow Americans in your place of business in the name of "getting mine". Stop cheating on your taxes and do your part to support our country economically. OF COURSE THESE PLAYERS BELONG IN THE HALL OF FAME! SO DOES PETE ROSE AND ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS THE STATS TO SUPPORT IT. Get off your high horse America and recognize people for what they are; PEOPLE. Get your own house in order and let's get this country back where it belongs.

Hey just a jock from the 80's who let the freaks in baseball America, Can't blame other countries for steroids then say it's ok for our American pass time to honor people after getting caught. Can anyone tell me what the fathers of baseball would say. explain me this why should I watch cheaters & for the guy commenting on spiters ,scuff etc. it was up to the umpires to check them things eject a player if caught even suspend him well it is not baseball for me anymore had enough of the freaks in the 80's and for the morons that watch this stuff and pay there salary you shoulda been born in the roman days cheering death cause that is what has happened to baseball it's demise is madonna's boyfriend worth 250 million on steroids to play cheating this is sicker than illegal immigration being over looked our laws and rules are made to stand firm not bend or break

i have read many opinions here that state that cheaters should not be allowed in the hall of fame. if that is to be upheld, then you must go back to the beginning, and remove all of the cheaters now in the hall of fame! you must then also remove or prevent players who have been accused of cheating w/o any hard evidence from entering the hall of fame.(see mark mcquire)etc. before steroids, there were amphetamines, see 1980 cardinals broken up by whitey herzog.there is no way to prove all of the allegations of cheating among the older generations of players, so now we are going to police modern players w/o removing earlier generations. what about corked bats, shins balls, spitballs, scuff balls ad infinitum.i believe all ballplayers with the stats to go in should be in. NO EXCEPTIONS!cheaters have been a part of baseball since it's beginning. let's let the stats determine entry into the hall, not controversy.

Jim Bunning hit the nail on the head. THE KIDS ARE WATCHING. Annul any records gained with steroid use. Please, lets get back to good ethics and setting good examples for our youth. There are to many gone astray now saying, if their idols can do it so can I. P.S. PETE ROSE BELONGS IN THE HALL OF FAME

Rich Sierakowski of MI 9:09PM August 30, 2009

The players that came up/come up positive for steroid use, should NOT be part of the Hall of Fame. By allowing them into the Hall of Fame , the hall is condoning the players cheating.

Mayhem of MO 8:59PM August 30, 2009

Steroids should be treated as cheating. Sammy Sousa, Mark Mcguire, Jose Connseco , for example, should all have any records wiped from the books .... in my heart Roger Maris's record still stands... naturally , without taint. If you allow these you need to allow Pete Rose's accomplishments. Baseball should not discriminate.

Paul S of AR 1:29PM August 29, 2009

If you do something about steroid users you have to go back to the 70-s 80's and see how many speedsters were juiced with cocaine and other drugs. Put restrictions in place and move the sport (excuse me the business cause it's not a sport anymore)on. Also how can you ban some players who got caught and not others who may or may not have used steroids? but there is no proof for them.

Then put Pete Rose in the HOF where he belongs. I mean come on it's not like the guy threw games he bet on them.

By the way, they also need to change the way players get into the allstar game because that is the true shame of the sport. Just because you have a winning team or big market does not mean they have the better players at the time of allstar voting.

Jim of CA 12:37AM August 27, 2009

The balls are juiced. Why not the players also?

matt of NJ 7:52AM August 26, 2009

Pete Rose one of the greatest player in baseball but because he was caught betting he was suspended for life , what about when Dennis Mclain of the Detroit Tigers was caught betting he wasn't suspended for life, and stripped with the oportunity of been inducted in the Hall of Fame. Tell me what is the matter in reinstate him back and have the oportunity to be selected for the Hall of Fame. He earned his oportunity when he broke the record of Ty Cobb of most hits in baseball. He broke some rules and how many others haven't brake it. And still the man should have the oportunity.
