How Should the Baseball Hall of Fame Treat the Steroid Era?

The problem: If steroid era guys can be inducted and their stats stand, how can non-steroid guys fairly compete for future generations. It would almost be an invite to continue performance enhancers.

I always thought the HOF was about the player, not the players stats. If the HOF is to continue I think all players should be considered regardless of their shortcomings. HOWEVER, all players should be considered based on their actions and contributions as PLAYERS. Not just simply because they lead in hits or strikeouts. I care not whether they are a freak who hit 5000 hits in a career as much as I do how the team and fans respected them as a person, depended on them as a player, and revered them as an opponent.

They should have a Seperate Room just for the Steroid ERA, WITH aSTERIKS NEXT TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERS the hall of shame

stats should count just like world championships. you gonna take championships away from teams who had admitted steroid users on them. if a player is hall of fame worthy he should be in. every player does something to give them an edge. you gonna take all of sosas home runs away because he got caught with a corked bat? when were steroids made illegal in mlb, 2005? why are we even talking about it. most of the accusations are from before then. does anyone out there drink coffee first thing in the morning? caffiene is a performance enhancing drug. even little leaguers drink red bull or monster or something similar before games. y'all get over it. they are grown men and they should be allowed to do whatever they feel is necesary to play great ball.

treat hall of famers like pete rose. you cheat and get caught, you don't get in. plain and simple. notice i said get caught.

If you have to mix them to be the best you can be. Then you aren't and should never get in Hall of Fame.

Babe Ruth trained on booze, bimbos, and bimbos. Should guys that run, lift weights, and take vitamins be banned? How about alloy golf clubs and high tech shoes?AS LONG AS WE PLAY SPOTS FOR MONEY, PEOPLE WILL BE LOOKING FOR AN EDGE,

This was the steroid era, simple as that. Like the dead ball era, and the lively ball era, we know how to look at those statistics.

This is also the age of Tommy John surgeries, computer analysis of performances by the manager, video study by players, and the end of the myth that body building would hurt players performance. We are not going back to the fifties or sixties.

There is no way to sort out the "cheaters" of the era and put the "clean". We don't know who stats were deflated because of steroids( checkout relief pitchers) and increased because they benefited they batted behind or ahead a steroid hitter. Nor the managers and executives who knew or guessed that"there's something happening here, what is ain't exactly clear."

If they were outstanding during the roid era, they belong in the hall of fame.

It's all about the money! These guys, and some gals, have no conscience. Evident by the Steve Lyons comment.

How much money can I make before I fade away. Who cares about the record books. That's just a feather in my cap if I don't get caught. The leauges don't really care or they would take real steps to eliminate it. It brings in the fans.(?) Helps pay the bills. We don't really want to stop it!

The word sport to me means fair competition. If one player does not want to put his health at risk, it puts him at an unfair disadvantage. How can anyone think to compare cheaters like Bonds/McGwire/Sosa with the likes of players like Ruth, Mantle, Aaron, Mays Robinson and on and on I could go. To these cheaters, we're nothing but chumps they pass on their way to the bank! Zero tolerance. Ban them all before there's no going back!!!

Regardless if you take steriods it still takes talent that the the average guy doesn't have to catch up with a 100mph fastball.

As far as the cheating issue, Gaylord Perry cheated and he is in the Hall of Fame.

I recall when Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris were trying to beat the Babes 60 in the 60s.

How many home runs do you think either one of them would have hit had they been on steroids???

Whether one joins the elite of baseball is dependent on how he compares to those already there in a way. How can it possibly be a fair comparison of players when one group had the advantage of a drug that the others would have no part of or didnt know exist.

Steroids caused artificial benefits to those that used them.

I believe if a person took steroids, he should not be eligible to even be considered for induction!
