Why Do the Media Care So Much About Michael Jackson's Death?

Is coverage of pop star's death drowning out the "real" news?

Wrote Robert Schlesinger yesterday: "The most important story in the world today is that Michael Jackson remains dead. That's pretty much what I can glean from flipping between the 24-hour MJ networks this morning (I think one of them has officially changed its name to MJNBC)." Are the media paying too much attention to Michael Jackson's death? If so, why? Post your thoughts.

The current spin being put on Evan Chandler’s death in the press is that he killed himself because he was 'destroyed' by the lack of justice he felt his family received. It is naive to imagine this is anything less than calculated damage limitation, designed to deflect the possible questions and fall-out that Chandler’s synchronous death represents. Inevitably, Diane Dimond has been wheeled out to promote this fallacy and it is presently doing the rounds in teh American and British press. The fact remains though that Michael’s early death was not a given. Only the most imperceptive would deny that the anaesthetic that killed him was, in reality - just a formality. The unimaginable trauma to both Michael and Jordan's psyches that Evan's deception set in motion can be clearly seen in the consequences of the last few months. I hope Jordan will be left alone to deal with this turn of events. He was brutalized by Evan for much of his young life and we must have compassion for him. Whatever secrets are or are not revealed in the years to come, Michael is free now. It is his children, his family, and us, who are left who grieve for what could have been - and the great wrong that was done.

The media believes that Michael is an "Icon" period, now Iconography is all about Gods and Goddess's ...... Michael was of course a biblical angel but Michael Jackson was no angel.....he was exploited by his family and others in the entertainment business to make him rich and famous and they would share in his good fortune and they have not stopped yet even after his tragic death.....

Actually, all the attention isn't subjected solely to his death, it's also about the great contributions he has given to the world when he was alive, how he revolutionized music and the clear picture as to his personal life which caught a lot of attention over the years. It's in his death that the search for truth about this mysterious genius's life comes into focus, and although haters may still judge and condemn him, I believe that justice will prevail...even beyond death.

It's definitely not a surprise why he's getting all the headlines. He connected with people through his music as well as his humanitarian side. Michael deserves the attention after giving his whole to the world while he was with us.
