Republican Sex Scandals a Sign It's Time to End the Family Values Wars

What you do in your family reflects your values as a whole so I don't see the use of keeping information private. The GOP can stop being hypocrites however and the value voters need to think a bit more deeply about their vote.

Let's see if they are going to give up the family values that they are most hypocritical about then they will have to return to their broadest base of undereducated, racist, walmart shopping, Kia driving, made in America dumbasses who continue to take Fox News as a news outlet rather than base entertainment, listen to the Drug Addict Rush Limbaugh, believe we are in Iraq for something other than OIL. You know the religious right without the family values part.
Man, do I hope they run the Quitter Sarah Paliin for president in 2012!

John J says marriage and children is the foundation of society. It's the foundation of the patriarchal Roman Catholic family whose church bans divorce. Even if a husband turns out to suffer from incurable premature ejaculation, his wife is supposed to put up with that until one of them dies. If he refuses to use contraception and makes her dread every mating with threat of another pregnancy and 18 more years of dependency, she's stuck with him. If she has a family that leeches on him all the time, he has no relief. Patriarchal marriages put inheritance first. When marriage does fail, it is the civil government that runs divorce courts. Leviticus states God's hatred of homosexuals. Lev.18;22 says gays are an abomination to God. Lev.20:13 says kiil homosexuals. But God also says "Thou shalt not kill." So that is used against people who need and want an abortion. Go to "Skeptics' Annotated Bible" to understand where a person with a low religious boiling-point can get the idea to kill an abortion doctor.

Some comments are so off-topic that they're comical. Don brings the Berlin Wall & condemnation of Marxism into discussion of adultery and says God sanctified marriage. Reds built the Wall because crooks from W. Germany went East, bought all the merchandise that was cheap because it was made under Non- Profit socialism. They emptied Red stores & sold goods at profit. Catholic Walesa formed the fake union Solidarity that called strikes in Poland & Germany and wrecked the distribution system, creating shortages. Then capitalists said Communism doesn't work. Look at the capitalist mess we're in now, with taxes bailing out bad business owners and banks. As for "God sanctifying marriage," what happened to mythic Adam & Eve after they obeyed God and had sex so they would "be fruitful and multiply and cover the world with people?" God said they had "become as Gods and could create life," and that was such a terrible sin that He threw them out. Mythic God said motherhood was a Curse and fathers should gripe at being forced to work to support families. He also drowned families in the mythic Flood. Genesis is a cruel, moneymaking potboiler.

Like the TV Series, "Sanford and Son." Who can really blame him for wanting to have more sons to carry on his family name and tradition by increasing his offsprings. Therefore he needs to have sex with more women The important thing is not to wear condoms when he was having sex.
More than likely it was also a conspiracy staged by Barack Obama and his Democrats supporters especially Black to set him up using beautiful women similar to what they have done for other White politcal figures such as the former NY governor(s). Their purpose is to replace them with Blacks.
Who would not doubt that Obama has never committed adultery.
Sanford should be allowed to enjoy his life as usual without anymore interference. In fact Obama should share his wife with Sanford if he wants a hybrid "SON" like himself!

My family values are fine. Family Values of politicians are just another title used to sell tabloid-type news. Stick to the main issues, you will never be able to regulate morality. Economy, jobs, healthcare, military involvement, solar/alternative fuel...that's what I value as an American, not the gossip.

it won't happen.
1. Republicans believe they are morally superior. So what if they behave like the neighborhood tomcat? Their innate moral superiority doesn't go away just because they never actually demonstrate morality.
2. They are inherently judgmental. Live and let live isn't in their nature. Everyone is supposed to live up to their standards, not arrive at standards of their own. If they fail to live up to their own standards, they ask God for a pass and expect us to buy into it.
3. They are obsessed with everyone else's sex life. Who cares what you and a consenting adult are doing in privacy of your own home? Not me. But your friendly local Republican Party sure does.
4. Imagine if I ran as the Traffic Values candidate, but kept getting speeding tickets. I would deserve to be lambasted - not because there's a Traffic Values morality war, but because my behavior would correctly paint me as a hypocritical buffoon. If, on the other hand, I didn't run as the Traffic Values candidate, people wouldn't care much about my speeding tickets. That's the position that the GOP is in with their constant parade of self-righteous letches.
There was a time when such things were off limits. I'd love to go back to not knowing the most personal details of politicians, but the GOP will never let it happen.

that America should be ashamed of itself for being a "world leader" in pornography.
But given that the modern production and distribution of porn is a corporate industry, the conservative Republicans actually supported it when in power. Hey, they gave the "Girls Gone Wild" guy a bigger tax cut than you got, didn't they? Tell me what, exactly, they did to curb such activities.

The idea that you are better than other Americans because of your religion or political ideology is strictly a Republican issue. The truth of progressive and democratic politics is that we are all Americans, we are all subject to the same laws and freedoms and we fight for those rights. It is of course far more damaging for right wing ideologues to be caught in sex scandals with prostitutes, married women, men and boys because they want to deny other Americans rights and freedoms while at the same time they exhibit none of the values they claim to uphold. Values which generally are based in sexism, homophobia, racism,religious superstition, an odd attachment to the Old Testament while ignoring Christ's teachings,and a stunted world view resulting in blind nationalism.
Democrats are impeached or resign in disgrace over these same types of scandals, while Republicans believe they have God's forgiveness, slap each other on the back, go to their preachers and get the homosexuality prayed out of them, then return to work oppressing others while repressing themselves.
