Is This the Beginning of the End for American Troops in Iraq?

June 30, 2009 RSS Feed Print

Reports the AP: "Iraqi forces assume formal control of Baghdad and other cities on Tuesday after American troops hand over security in urban areas... By Tuesday, all but a small number of American soldiers will have left Baghdad and other urban areas for bases outside cities, such as the giant Camp Victory." Is this the first step toward an eventual full withdrawal of American forces from Iraq? Or will American troops be in Iraq for some time to come? Post your thoughts.

It would be nice for a stop to all the violence and I hope we are out of their lands soon. But it seems things get exposive after a short pause. Lets hope tbis is not all side just taking a deep breath before the next round begins.

I believe this is a first step toward a complete withdrawal of U.S. troops in Iraq, but it is only that, a first step. It will take time before all U.S. forces leave Iraq, but as the country becomes more stable, this full withdrawal is likely to occur.
