Reacting to South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's public confession yesterday to an extramarital affair, Robert Schlesinger writes: "I think we can safely assume that he'll be too busy trying to rebuild his personal and political relationships at home to worry about 2012, even if his initial flakiness and moral lapses would not have disqualified him." Does Mark Sanford have a shot at the presidency in 2012? What do his misdeeds say about the Republican Party? Politicians in general? Post your thoughts.

As Allied Supreme Commander, Ike had an affair with his driver, a Catholic like Hitler, Himmler, Mengele and others. She wrote about it. If she were a Fifth Columnist, a spy, that might have created a very bad situation. When governors have mistresses, maybe they create jobs for relatives or give other favors. Pillow talk is notorious as part of corruption of public servants. This situation is extremely serious because of his having such an important job, with wide powers of appointment, etc.

If Mark Stanford had cheated on his taxes instead of his wife, he would have been a cabinet member by now.

Neal Boortz included on his site, today, a remark from a listener: 'If Mark Stanford had cheated on his taxes instead of his wife, he would have been a cabinet member by now.' I also thought this was really a good one.
