If you force people into a government plan then that would mean less ofr the current ins companies there for raising the price on everyone with private ins. in turn forcing the company out of business and the government in total control. We see how they work just look at SS , medicare and medicaid.

No to any government run ins

No to the Obama care trash bill

The only thing the health care bill thats in the house now will do is rais taxes and limit care for millions. Not to mention bankrupt the country. We are broke now how can you add more people and spending and think it wouldn't raise the debt. Foolish thinking to say the least

If health care is a business as it now is, why would a company be interested in an individual's health if it is detrimental to company profit??

More goods cheaper prices rite? A cheaper option would force established companies to reevaluate prices?

Although 65% isn't a bad number, I believe it is higher. The main reason people would be against universal healthcare is because of the increase in tax. If increased tax wasn't a factor that number would probably be closer to the eightieth percentile. In response to Phillip of AR, where are you getting your information? Universal healthcare could be a great thing and I have come across many people that support the idea. As long as other factors don't negatively affect it like; poor quality service due to increased amounts of patients, a huge increase in taxes as mentioned above, lesser pay for doctors or anyone involved in the medical field since they would be paid through the government, etc. I believe universal healthcare would do amazing things for the United States.

This is a joke. how did you get your numbers. Did you ask any real people or just increase the margin of error to 99 percent. I deal with thousands of people on a daily basis and not one person supports univeral health care. Maybe if you asked real people you'd get real numbers

When I was a kid, my parents always had me trying something new, like food. I either liked it or didn't like it, if I didn't, well I never eat it again (until I grew up and my taste buds changed). Same way with this health care issue. We put these guys in office with our freedom to vote, just as we can take them out come next election. Something has to give and our Nations healthcare is going down hill, I see it everytime I get a doctors bill (I have 5 stents) so I see quite a few bills. I.E. Gauze for example, its outragous what they get for gauze in a hospital. Next time I have to go, I will stop at the drugstore and buy my own. So just like your parents used to do, Try it, you might just like it.

The reality is, the insurance companies working in collusion, have a massive effect on the healthcare industry. Hospitals networks have become huge de facto regional monopolies, especially as the smaller doctor offices are closing due to increases in insurance filing overheads and malpractice premiums, as the insurance companies, who in the last two years saw a huge reduction in their invested wealth, are now limiting how much they are willing to pay to providers while on the reverse side looking to milk their customers for every dime as well as forcing out clients who have expensive payouts through a variety of tools, such as through-the-roof expensive renewal premiums or by canceling their policy altogether by finding any excuse to recise the client.

As these hospitals become regional monopolies, they are able to limit their liability by not having Emergency Rooms, but rather through Urgent Health Care Clinics that are not required to provide health care if the patient doesn't have insurance. Even so, you will find if you that the bill you receive from the hospital is very well padded, not to mention the specialists and labs that bill separately. Personally speaking, three years ago, I was in a car accident and my lawyer was able to get the hospital to remove nearly 60% of all billed charges, and my lawyer assured me that the hospital still made at least 20% profit on my case. Profit...more like profiteering. And these charges will do nothing but increase as they become the only game in town.

We need oversight in the health care industry, from the insurance to the providers all the way down. There is just too much room for collusion and profiteering in health care, and while we may put our hope in individuals and institutions, that they will be above-board in all their practices, we do have to realize that we are dealing with companies who want to make as much profit as they can, and someone who has dire life-or-death health issues is more than willing to pay whatever price, no matter what the cost.

sb in Ct,Greg Den Haese, and Neil, etc., all make valid points. The sad truth is that the "end" is near for the "goose that lays the golden eggs" (That is: The American who pays for his own health insurance and medical care). The "Goose", who's running out of money, will soon not be able to afford to keep the inept, idiotic American health care industry floating. It is true that doctors get shafted by ridiculous liability insurance premiums, that insurance companies get shafted with paying for ever rising claims and high malpractice judgements, that hospitals have to swallow costs for uninsured illegal aliens(excuse me...I meant "undocumented victims of society"). Don't forget the "poor" politicians who are pressured by lobbyists to not make changes. And of course, the lawyers, who are merely protecting all of us, while lining their pockets. What's most interesting is that none of the above parties to the impending disaster are willing to budge. They are too absorbed with pointing fingers of blame at each other to realize that they are all on the same sinking ship. When the "Goose" dies, so do they. They is no need for price fixing, but there is a need to re-examine why the system is so inefficiently operated. Forget congress...they would compromise away all common sense. Maybe it is time for a "Regulator" to oversee everything relating to health care. Someone with a big stick who can beat some sense into all of them.
