Why Is America's Reputation Improving?

How much credit does Obama deserve?

June 8, 2009 RSS Feed Print

In today's Data Points, we report on a new poll showing that the United States's reputation has shot up in many countries between November 2008 and April of this year. Many others polls—for example, this one—show similar trends. Why is the U.S. 's reputation improving? How much does this have to do with President Obama's efforts at reshaping America's image? How much credit, if any, does he deserve? Post your thoughts.

I have no idea how anyone can say that America's reputation is imroving. Yes, sure, Mr. Bush certainly took your country rather deep, reputation-wise, and anyone would be an improvement after him. But even your new president is just continuing the "war on terrorism", which is the stupidest thing anyone ever thought of. Terrorism is an idea, a concept, and as such cannot be fought the conventional way, but Mr. Obama still tries, and even sends another 30,000 troops over to Afghanistan. He has promised to leave a long time ago but is instead building up. My own countrymen are being killed in that wasteland because America cannot leave until it has forced their democratic views on a sad country like Afghanistan. But Mr. Obmama does it all with a smile, I have to give him that. Afghanistan is only a real threat to itself, and if they ever become an actual present threat to a NATO country, then the coalition will go in, with a smile, and make the whole bloddy thing into one big parking lot. Personally I do not like America and will continue not to until that pointless war is over. America is an arrogant bully, but Mr. Obama does smile a lot... And he is black

If you can assume that because G.W. was "suspicious or indifferent to ALL cultures that weren't his own", then you would have no problem in accepting my observation that it should be clear to everyone that OBAMA hates America because he spent so much time abroad and covorted with communists and terrorists, correct Jim Phillips of Georgia? You must be some sort of clairvoyant that seems to think he knows what the rest of the world is thinking. Have you caught the video of world leaders at the G20 Summit REFUSING to shake Obama's extended hand?!

Yup. They love this guy!

Because we elected Obama, and he's black. Period. Unfortunately there is no other reason.
