Will the Catholic Church Meet Obama Halfway?

May 19, 2009 RSS Feed Print

Reacting to Obama's commencement speech at Notre Dame, AP reports that the "Vatican said Monday that President Barack Obama was clearly looking for some common ground with his speech at the University of Notre Dame about abortion." Obama and the pope are expected to meet in July. Will the Vatican reciprocate Obama's attempt to find common ground? Will it change its stance on abortion? Post your thoughts.

The catholic church is the church of absolute truths, and an infallible pope. HuH

They'd outlaw birth control devices. How many realize that birth control devices were illegal until the 1920s. Why - because the church wants a bigger army to corrupt. Just as old Adolf himself told his people to have more babies for the Wehrmacht.

Someone else hit the nail on the head re the church child sex scandal. It was just a variant of what happens in prisons, where sex starved prisoners (or priests and Bishops) establish their dominance by raping the weaker of the available victims. And then they hide their crimes for decades, and didn't at least bounce the perpetrators out the door, but instead moved them around, facilitating their crimes.

Moral Values, Truth, Love. So sadly lacking. And they dare tell others what to do?

Maybe they shouldn't have been sued for billions. Instead the govt should have built a big wall topped with barbed wire around their churches. So their criminals could just practice their trade on each other. And not get out into the real world. It is called Jail.

Given they were consenting adults, that is fine in private.

How about Homo Jenkins falling all over himself in the presence of Obama. Those who don't think that Gays have taken over the Catholic church did not see the speech on Sunday.

President Obama said, "That abortion was a complex issue". Its only complex when one hides in the shadows. Light has no fellowship with darkness. Imagine Jesus and the Devil trying to work out a compromise on the Word of God. Abortion is real simple! It's the violent killing of human life which we try to water down by calling it a choice. President Obama hides behind the word "rare" because it's just a nice word and then hedoes everything in his power to promote abortion. If something is good why would you want to make it rare? How can there be common ground when its life vs killing, good vs evil, light vs darkness and deeds vs words. By their fruits you shall know them. Spiritual awakening isn't talking the talk, but walking the walk.
