Republicans Cannot Grow Their Party By Moving Right

I get so entirely sick of hearing what a "mess" our favorite JR Senator has "inherited" from Bush. Mr Clinton ignored the attacks on America and declared Al-Qaida to "not be a threat".

During peacefull times he managed to still raise our debt 1.6 Trillion. GWB entered office with an "agenda" of improving education, addressing AIDS and restoring fiscal policy.

Then 911 happened and he wisely put aside his agenda to step up and declare these terrorists for what they are...enemies of the FREE WORLD and thugs that should be dealt with as such.

He had 911, Katrina and Ike to deal with and DID spend 4 Trillion in dealing with these things. The major budget battle with the Democrats in 2003 was because he wasn't spending ENOUGH! We had 7 of 8 decent economic years.

I believe Obama's push to forge ahead with his "agenda" even though we are still at war has deepened this recession. Having a "budget" means you have to make responsible choices. Mr Obama has yet to recognize this harsh reality.

As the American people begin to witness Obama's change and realize it's the same "spend and tax" Democratic Religion, turning to the right fiscally will look better and better.

The Republicans must stand up to promote their CORE concept:

Smaller, efficient, secure GOVERNMENT.

Why don't you look a little closer to home and tell me why Senator Obama campaigned as a fiscal conservative, yet President Obama is anything but.

And yes, Bush was FISCALLY conservative in comparison. He tried to disguise it under the flag of "investing in America" like Obama is now, but anyone with an attention span of longer than three minutes can call BS on it.

Can SOMEBODY write objective articles anymore without any bias? Yes, I know this is opinion, but can we at least not look like an Obama cheerleader here? The fact of the matter is while the fate of the GOP might be good copy right now, you might wanna take a look at the self-proclaimed people's party, who right now is suffering from the same us-vs-them problem that the GOP did in 2005.

I think you have to talk about issues. The terms "right" and "left" and "liberal" and "conservative" have lost their meanings.

On one political forum I frequent, the posters were trying to define what "right" means. The conclusion was that opposition to abortion was only criterion for "right."

Was the big government, big deficit, big spender Bush a "conservative"?

When it comes to the economy, the Republicans HAVE to move to the right. The Bush administration was right on taxes but wrong on spending. His overspending made fiscal conservatives look like hypocrites.

I can't see how you could possibly say moving to the right won't work. If the Republican party doesn't move to the right, at least in terms of fiscal policy, then there's no reason for the party to even exist.

If the Republican Party doesn't stand for lower taxes, less spending, and smaller government, why do they exist?

I'd like to see Senators Snowe, Lieberman, Bayh, Landrieu, Collins, Specter, and other more tempered Congressional members combine to form another party that could reach at least 15-20 members in the Senate, and another 100 or so in the House. We need something besides two parties, and I applaud Lieberman and Sanders for being Independents, even as they caucus with the Democrats.

I think your article was excellent!
