Officials around the world are reacting to the swine flu scare with dire warnings, and many media reports, like this one from the AP, seem to share the following ominous tone: "A never-before-seen flu strain—a mix of pig, human and bird viruses—has turned killer in Mexico and is causing milder illness in the United States and elsewhere."
