I EATED THE COOKIES

I don't mean to be rude but this is the dumbest question I have ever heard. Now that we are coming out of the Bush Dark Ages where we denied reality on darn near everything, we *have* to make Earth Day a major educational awareness day.

To be frank, we have no more time to lose. Besides, children happen to learn a lot on Earth Day. While this writer may be older and more cynical I put my bet on the younger more idealistic generations who actually want a habitable planet for themselves and for future generations.

Its a time to reflect on all the freedoms the special interests have taken from us! Thats what earth day reminds me of now! Not exactly what it was intended to represent, but a good example of when things are taken to extremes...no body wins

This is simple... do your homework and become educated. Need a head start? Read Thomas Friedman's Flat, Hot, and Crowded. This isn't even a question anyone should be asking in today's world. It is NOT political, hypothetical, or dream science.

1. Many campgrounds are being closed across America because of litigation being brought about by the “Sierra Club”, “The Wilderness Society” and other “Eco-Elite” groups. These groups allege that campgrounds are causing damage to plants and animals that are threatened or endangered. Additionally, because of extreme environmental regulation the building of new campgrounds, on both public and private lands, is grinding to a halt.

More than a dozen campgrounds in Southern California have already been closed, and California Dept. of Fish and Game has been litigated by the enviro extremist group, Center for Biological Diversity and has ceased 80 year old fish stocking programs in more than half of previously stocked streams and bodies of water. More outdoor opportunities lost for kids and families.

2. Fuel prices are artificially high because “Environmentally Correct” groups have lobbied, protested and threatened lawsuits regarding new oil fields, particularly in Alaska. High fuel costs prevent people not just from buying a R.V., but from long distance travel in general.

3. Manufacturers of snowmobiles, personal water craft, outboard motors, off road vehicles, firearms, fishing and camping gear - and the citizens who want to enjoy them - are already suffering under ever increasing area closures and restrictions regarding their use.

4. Hunters and fisherman are being fenced out of vast areas, as their sports are under constant attack by the “Eco-Elite”. As these sportsmen see their favorite areas being closed to their activities they will hardly be of a mind to go out and spend money on equipment they are constantly less able to use.

5. The “Road less Forest Initiative”, driven by environmental groups is sealing off vast tracts of land from public access. This will, of course, further curtail outdoor recreational activities which, in turn, means ever declining sales of recreational goods.

6. Boating is seeing ever increasing regulation and restrictions, which always leads to higher prices for the equipment. Add to this the fact that, because of environmental restrictions ,it is virtually impossible to build any new marinas and harbors, this leads to constantly increasing prices for slips, moorage, repairs and launching. Again the consumer takes it in the pocket book.

7. Many National Parks are not only closing campgrounds, but are also restricting traffic within their boundaries. The day is probably not far off when people will only be allowed access to their parks by guided tour bus.

The outdoor recreation industry, and those of us who want outdoor recreational opportunities expanded, or at least maintained, are under attack by the “Eco-Elite” - backed up by Hollywood money and left wing media propaganda. The people of this nation better wake up before they find themselves not only entirely fenced from their land, but also from their rights and heritage.

I do everything that I am supposed to do. I recycle, turn out the lights when I leave, I don't litter, and I clean up the litter thats on the ground.

Walk, run, jog, ride your bike, do whatever you have to do to save our earth, decrease global warming,... & fight obesity!!:D

Don't throw your twinkie wrappers down, learn to use a trash can, If you don't know how ask somebody to teach you! Everybody needs to help! Everybody!

Quit being selfish, It's not all about you! Think of other people! Think of our earth!

Help! :)

why do we try to protect the earth? i am 14 and i have no confidence in america anymore because theese liberals are too blind to see anything

Regardless of where you stand politically, it is hard to argue that conservation of finite resources and preservation of the environment aound us isn't worth at least a day of awareness and education. If they keep the politics out of this, awareness programs at school can be particularly beneficial, providing someone besides me to tell my kids to pick up their trash, turn out unused lights, don't stand in the shower for an hour, and change clothes before changing the thermostat setting. For some reason they quit listening to me.

I travel less. I turn off and unplug anything that doesnt need power immediately. I recycle. I drive less and I consolidate my trips to town so that there is no wasted fuel.

There will always be selfish and greedy people. I hope we find a way to make them pay for 500x their share so that since nothing else will make them quit, the sheer cost alone will.

Fight stupidity, promote awareness!

It is nothing more than an extention of the tie dyed shirts and the VW bus.

A bunch of clueless sheep.

My goal is to have the biggest carbon footprint possible. I want all you dope smokin, tree hugging, sheep to make up for all the CO2 that I create.

I think you should go after the soft drink industry since they inject CO2 into their drinks and it is now a pollutant according to the EPA.

STOP CO2 NOW!

What clueless Sheep
