Should Caroline Kennedy Serve as U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican?

April 13, 2009 RSS Feed Print

Caroline Kennedy is rumored to have been on President Obama's short list for the position of U.S. ambassador to the Vatican. Recent reports, however, allege that the Vatican has crossed her off Obama's list for what many assume are her pro-choice views. Should Caroline Kennedy be the U.S. ambassador to the Vatican ? If not, is the Vatican right to tell the Obama administration that she's not a welcome choice? Post your thoughts.

Honestly, I believe it is wrong for the Vatican to discriminate against Caroline Kennedy based on her support for women's rights. It's not "Christian" to judge people so. Also, the University of Notre Dame should be honored to have the president speak there. George W. Bush, who is not a Catholic either and does not uphold Catholic beliefs, spoke at the university and nobody said anything.

The way I see it, conservatives, is that abortion has been legal since Roe v. Wade in 1970. How many Republican administrations have we had since? The two Bushes? Regan? Don't be mad at the liberals and Obama for abortion, be angry with the Republicans who didn't overturn it. Stop bitching about the liberals when the Republican party is anything from the "Christian" party. They support guns, war, capital punishment, and the deteriorating of the constitutional rights to marriage and privacy. Get. The. Hell. Over. It.

All the people who are saying the Vatican wouldn't reject a Protestant or anyone else with opposed view other than a Catholic is dead wrong. They have rejected other countries proposed ambassadors for being openly gay or other reasons. Plus any country can reject any proposed ambassador for any reason. If they don't want a pro-choice ambassador that is their prerogative. Also it wouldn't hurt the Vatican to not have a representative so much as it would the Democratic party. They are already proving themselves to be two faced after saying they didn't want to be divisive on these issues but they have immediately repealed or changed numerous policies that offended Catholics including abortion, the Mexico accords, stem cell research (and for all those who talk about the 63% who approve of stem cell researcch ask them about the totality of Obama's rules and you will find a huge percentage who are against it). If it is hard for them to find a pro-choice Democrat that speaks volumes about the party and you won't pull the wool over Catholics eyes in 2010

Caroline Kennedy was not a good choice because she does not live

according to the Catholic doctrine. I feel the same way about

Notre Dame University. Inviting President Obama to speak is un-

acceptable. He is a liberal who opposes everything Catholics

believe. Speaking there is just a feather in the liberals hat.If he had any class he would cancel for the good of the

university and the students.
