WHY NOT RAISE THE PRICE OF ALCOHOL - THIS SEEMS TO KILL MORE PEOPLE THEN NICOTINE. IF I WANT TO SMOKE THAT IS MY BUSINESS- AFTER DOING EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON THE PRICE OF HEALTHCARE RELATED TOBACCO ILLNESSES - DON'T LET THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOOL YOU! - DID YOU KNOW IF A DOCTOR CHARGES $100 FOR AN OFFICE VISIT AND LETS SAY YOU ARE COVERED BY BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD AND YOU PAY $20 FOR AN OFFICE COPAY - THE DOCTOR IS LUCKY TO GET $40 FROM BLUE CROSS. THE REMAINING AMOUNT IS A DISCOUNT THAT THE DOCTOR WRITES OFF - THIS IS ACTUALLY A CONTRACTUAL ADJUSTMENT - IN OTHER WORDS - BECAUSE THE DOCTOR IS A BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD PROVIDER - HE HAS TO EAT WHAT BLUE CROSS TELLS HIM TO EAT - FOLKS, IT IS NOT THE DOCTORS THAT ARE GETTING RICH ITS THE INSURANCE COMPANIES THAT ARE SCREWING EVERYBODY! THINK ABOUT IT! EVENTUALLY TOBACCO WILL BE AN ILLEGAL DRUG.

ITS A LITTLE TOO LATE TO TELL ME I CAN STOP SMOKING AFTER I HAVE BEEN ADDICTED FOR 33 YERS. I HATE IT. I HAVE PUT DOWN LOTS OF THINGS OVER THE YEARS BUT NOT THE CIGARETTES. THAT SHOULD TELL YO SOMETHING.

So what we really need is to know what percentage of the population makes those figures. If the 12% of smokers is from 3% of the population, and the 38% is from 90% of the population, than people who have money smoke more than others, but if 50% of the population makes under 38K and if 10% make over 90K, than the less money you have, the more likely you are to smoke...

simple relative numbers
