Do Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert Report the News?

1 in 3 Americans under 40 believes satirical reporting is taking the place of traditional news

March 26, 2009 RSS Feed Print

According to this recent poll, "Nearly one-third of Americans under the age of 40 say satirical news-oriented television programs like The Colbert Report and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart are taking the place of traditional news outlets." The report goes on to state: "Younger Americans also tend to think the programs make them more informed about news events, while older adults are more skeptical." What do you think? Does Comedy Central report the news or does it make fun of it? Is it possible to do both? Post your thoughts.

They spin the news and blow it out of context, to get laughs. Only tid bits and small clips are given, not the whole story. If a perosn relies only on the Colbert Report or the Daily Show as their news source, then they will have skewed political views. I watch both of these shows and i like them. I watch them for laughs, thats it, thats all. Dont believe everything you breath

Goodness. I cannot improve on any of these comments. There are some very smart folks who read this paper, almost as smart as Colbert and Stewart.
