Do Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert Report the News?

They spin the news and blow it out of context, to get laughs. Only tid bits and small clips are given, not the whole story. If a perosn relies only on the Colbert Report or the Daily Show as their news source, then they will have skewed political views. I watch both of these shows and i like them. I watch them for laughs, thats it, thats all. Dont believe everything you breath

Goodness. I cannot improve on any of these comments. There are some very smart folks who read this paper, almost as smart as Colbert and Stewart.

Jon Stewart does an amazing job of reporting about the reporting of the news. By showing various media outlets form of frivolous questions or chatter he truly shows us how rediculous cable news become. Yes good reporting does occur, but there is a lot a noise, and Stewart makes fun of that noise. Along the way he actually informs his audience of whats going on... and shows us how the media plays with the topics of the day. It is entertaining, informative, smart, and at times he is quite poignant and passionate about the issues. Thank Goodness for the Daily show ---- I hope they continue to watch over mainstream media and deliver the news (with there fun/satirical/critical slant!). Jon Stewart Rocks.

jon stewart has the guts to say things that most of the news channels DONT want us to hear...99% NEWS on TV + in NEWSPAPERS/MAGAZINES are pre-screened+edited for your viewing to keep us "LIMP AND OBEDIENT", like happy puppy dogs...and are owned by the giant worldwide media companies anyway...jon stewart is an INDEPENDANT, a REBEL....GOOD JOB JON, I'D NOMINATE HIM FOR GOVERNOR OF NEW YORK.

... the more they stay the same. Those under 40 will find out, as we all have, that every source of news must be taken with a grain of salt. Being informed requires critical thinking and independent thought. As for these two shows, had I ever watched them, I'd have an opinion.

Those two clowns report news like the WWF promotes athletic contests

They area propaganda arm of the left wing of the democratic Party and the personal menservants of Barack Obama. In this context they " report the news"

They use items in the news to entertain some people. I for one think that both of them are moronic. They have made a lot of money "Acting" like they are reporting the news.

And for B. Obama, the great thing about America is if you don't like something you don't have to watch it, turn the channel and watch your moronic dribble. Have the government control the media, please.

I believe Comedy Central does both in order to differentiate itself from the other news programs. The news as told by stephen colbert is both funny and serious, the latter adding credibility to the show. Although the option for the two outlets exists, the internet is slowly making it's place as the main outlet for news media.
