Is Gary Locke the Right Choice for Secretary of Commerce?

February 26, 2009 RSS Feed Print

President Obama has nominated former Washington Gov. Gary Locke to be Secretary of Commerce. Obama's last two nominees for the position, Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico and Republican Sen. Judd Gregg, withdrew both their nominations—Gregg due to political differences, and Richardson due to a pending grand jury investigation. Reports the AP: "Prompting outcry from Republicans, the administration recently took steps to assert greater control over the national head count"—the 2010 Census—over which Locke would assert control if confirmed. What do you think of Locke's nomination? Is the third time the charm for Obama? Post your thoughts.
