This is the biggest bunch of crap I've seen in 53 years of being a citizen of the U.S. What a bunch of lies we were told. I know jumping on "bandwagons" more often than not turns into disillusion and disbelief at how badly we were "snowed". We've most definitely been taken. This president has said ANYTHING to become elected, and now we're catching on. Who's actually leading this country?? Pelosi and Reid are dangerous politicians that are not afraid of damage being done to their reputations, as long as their agenda is promoted. These two are the most bi-partisan creeps in our nations capitol today. These two gargoyles are always flanking Obama. The people looking across the table to make connections with the President are constantly reminded of the roadblocks, just by seeing their leering. He has done nothing but campaign for the first 50 days of this administration. I'm already sick to death of him. He's gone back on promises he made to be "transparent", he's brought the biggest bunch of know-nothings into this group to re-pay them for helping to get him elected. He's cool... he's not gracious. He's not presidential, and he has no class. No earmarks, my ass. Last years business, I think not. This guy is a freakin' disaster... and so is the goup of sleezy people he's playing government with. Rangel, Franks, Geuthner, Dodd, Emanuel; all crap. Pelosi & Reid are the worst. Sit down, get to work, stop the celebrations, get a clue, and do something to help the people that voted you into office. They weren't all on public assistance. I hope Stevie Wonder sang "You Haven't Done Nothin'" during his performance for the Obamas... IT FITS>

Giving out another stimulus check would be good but it's just a temporary "quick" fix. It won't help the economy rebound in the long run and it would cost billions of dollars, so why waste the money. People are just going to have to tighten their belts and spend more responsibly. I'm not saying this because I have tons of money, I don't, I'm a relatively new teacher. However, I understand that there are no quick fixes. We all are just going to have to do our best until things turn around. I've learned one thing, in the future I'm not going to be financing things and spending on my credit card like I must say I was guilty of in the past.

I am quite upset about the stimulus package. I found nothing in there that will give money back to the tax payers....like now! I was hoping for another stimulus like we received last year. All this bill does is increase our debt and taxes and spend money on things that are not as important....like environmental issues, and National Parks., etc.

All I want to know is what an extra 7 dollars a paycheck is really going to do to stimulate our economy. I think we're being robbed. I make too much for food stamps, but not enough to be well off. I don't have kids and am not 25 so I don't qualify for EIC or child tax. The whopping 7 dollars a paycheck is just enough money to buy a cheeseburger meal at McDonalds. Thanks a lot Government, I feel the weight of the recession lifted off of my chest.

I think we've been hosed.

Giving out free stimulus checks, not a bad idea, however it ring a bell. Sounds alot like welfare...we don't want that happening again.

Many of the comments I read are talking about how this stimulus package is a power grab or a political pay off. However, that is not entirely the case:

First, the government should give money to banks, after all banks are the "pumping stations or the heart of capitalism." Banks both create new money and circulate it as well. HOWEVER, there are concerns of money going the CEOs and other bank heads. We should have some type of regulations or limits that are incorporated in the bill, in order to prevent such concerns from becoming a reality. Perhaps even have limits on loan rates, or something like along those lines.

Second, at least we have a plan. As Bill of CO said, the money needs to start moving, with this plan the money is moving. It is better than a bill waiting to get passed by both houses. This is not a question of being democratic or republican, our economy is suffering, and party advocates need to suck it up and look at this from a non biased point of view and come up with a solution. This our economy were talking about not parties.

With that said, I'm not saying that political parties are bad, we as the American people need to stop acting like a mob, and think about this logically. Obama brought to the table and dished it out. Now we wait and see.

This is the worst thing to happen for our kids and the generations to come!

The Masses dont realize that the Constitution of the United States is one of the most powerful forces on earth.

Read it, and keep on re-reading it. The Founding Fathers knew exactly what they were doing.

PS: What is the interest rate on this 800B (really 2.5T) Stimulus Bill?

Greg of IL 11:15AM February 11, 2009

Maybe not the best granted but it is a start. Everyone should stop bellyaching and boohooing for Dems or Repubs. There are almost 600 idiots in the heads of our Government that could not see the country collapsing under their noses. What the hell makes anyone think they are going to come up with any plan let alone any plan that will make 300 million people happy. This country has always been split down the middle and no signs of that ever changing. No one on the planet wants the toxic mortgages and both the Democratic and Republican plans do not address them fully. Wall Street wants to sit back and have the government swallow the losses so they can get back to business as usual - lining their pockets and sending jobs overseas to keep cheap jobs like the service sector the main employment option. Put a plan in motion and then watch what happens. I like what I read from "Joe of SC" about the illegals getting a good portion of the proposed manual labor involved with the current plan. It is inevitable because the same 600+ idiots did nothing to quell the immigration for 20 plus years. Just like Social Security they turned their heads from a behemoth (immigration) and hoped they could stay in their jobs long enough to retire with a Government pension and the problems would become someone elses. So here we are - all these issues have come due at the same time.
